Only my mom is mom to me. I could never call anyone else 'mom'. Same with my dad. And I'd find it weird if somebody else called my parents mom and dad, too. We have a friend who jokingly refers to my mom as her "other mom" sometimes, but mostly she refers to my mom by her first name.

My best friends parents have parent-y nicknames, so we do call them that
Like PapaLastname and MamaLastName
Doesn't feel weird to me since I think it's cute and I don't use mama/papa with my parents

I wouldn't call them "Mom" or "Dad" though.

Although I don't think it's weird that people call their inlaws Mom/Dad.

The only woman besides my mother that I've ever called "mom" is Renee, lol.

I call Tony's grandpa "grandpa", because that's how he introduced himself to me and how he refers to himself. Nobody else gets called by anything but their first name, unless they're my own mom and dad.

There are two women I will occasionally call "mom" but it's in a very lighthearted, joking way - like "aw thanks Mom!" if they give me dinner, etc. One is my mom's friend of 25+ years who really is like a second mom to me - I've grown up with her, spent a ton of time at her house and her son is my age and we were best friends growing up. The other was my mom's friend, we were super close for probably 8ish years, I used to stay at her house for 7-10 days at a time in the summer, we'd go to horse shows together. All the barn girls in our little group called her mom, but the others a little more freely than me.

To say it seriously though, I don't think I could do it. I don't think it's wrong or abnormal but it would just feel way too weird for me. Perhaps it wouldn't if my mom had never been in my life or anything, but we are so close and always have been that I would find it very strange to call another woman "Mom" in a serious, emotional way.

Definitely wrong lol :p. My dad gets the absolute creeps when a guy calls his girlfriend's/fiance's/wife's parents "mom" and "dad." lol

Ils are one thing, I can do it, but understand it

But just good friends mom's? No. I mean a couple of my friend's called my mom "mom" when we were younger, but it was always kind of a joking thing, never really serious. I would not at all base how close a friend was on whether or not they call YOUR mom, mom...thats just weird.

Nope, I don't even call the inlaws "Mom" or "Dad." I call my stepdad by his first name even though he is way more of a father than my real dad.

I have a very good friend who is old enough to be my mom (I'm friends with her kids too, who are closer to my age), and several people who are not her kids call her "mom.". I just never have. We tell each other we love the other one but I can't go into "mom" territory with her.

Yeah that's not weird to me either. I do that too and my parents get referred to as Mama/Papa____ by various friends. I think that feels waayyyy different from actually calling them MOM or DAD hahah.

I do sometimes call my MIL and FIL mom and dad, but I adore them. I've never called a friend's parents mom or dad, that would feel weird to me.

All the band kids in high school would refer to the other parents as 'Momma _____' or 'Papa ______' They did when I was in school and they still do. I always thought it was neat.
