We went to go see a new vet, since in the three years I've lived here, we haven't been to one and with the new puppy coming, it was definitely time.

This place is awesome! Very friendly, laid-back staff, a vet who knew his stuff but didn't try to push anything. He was cool with me feeding raw and didn't try to get me to agree to any other vaccines besides the "by law" rabies. They're also completely reasonable in their prices--I only paid $75 today for the new patient general exam and shot.

Sawyer himself: He's a little tubby fat-ass at 66lbs :yikes: , has a touch of arthritis on his right hip and does need that epulus removed. Oh, and he's actually 9. My wishful thinking apparently deluded me into forgetting a couple of birthdays, LOL.

He won over every single person there with how well-behaved and tolerant he was. The vet was doing a joint manipulation to test for arthritis and Sawyer just laid that like "yeah, whatever, sure." Held perfectly still for getting his temp taken and for his shot.

I love my fluffy boy. <3

Oh that's great you found a nice vet. It sounds like Sawyer will get great care. I hope his arthritis clears up a little...maybe if he loses a few pounds....if he needs to, that might help too.

Isn't it nice when people oo and aww over your dog? It makes you feel proud of them. It's like being a Mom with a little kid who's exceptionally cute and people make a fuss.

Victor wasn't a year old when I met you, I thought he and Sawyer were the same age, and I believe Victor is 8. Was I wrong? GLad you found a vet that you like. Sawyer you need to run with your brother. How I wish it could happen.

Sawyer was about 18 months when I got him, so he's a little older.

Dober, yes, he does need to lose some weight. We were both pretty sedentary this winter, though jogging in the mornings has started to help. We just need to keep going--and I already had glucosamine/chondroitin on my shopping list.

Well that's great! Always nice to hear about somebody happy with a doctor/vet visit, LOL, there's enough that go the other direction for sure!

And WOW! 66 lbs??? Phoebe was 38lbs and I was under the impression that she and Sawyer were about the same size! LOL, guess I was wrong (even accounting for him being a bit plump, LOL)

that's great that you found someone you like--not always easy to do! And mr. fluffy pirate pants--good boy! Did he get a cookie (erm--low fat/calorie cookie)?

He's typically about 55-60 depeding on how much muscle he's got going.
Yep, all this time I thought he (and Australian shepherds in general) was around the size of an average border collie (35-45 lbs-ish) under all that fluff! 66 lbs ain't so bad if he's normally 60.......you guys can dog park that off in no time! LOL

Learned something new about A. Shepherds! :)
