THIS WEEK ALONE.

A new crate try. The one she was in had a small crack in it and after removing the next item I have to replace, she scratched and dug until she was tearing chunks out of it.

Foam flooring squares. I had put two of those in to cover the small crack in the crate tray, and in the first night she destroyed those.

A new towel. She saw one sitting near her crate and somehow managed to grab it and pull it into her crate... and then she shredded it.

And the newest addition? A new collar. She destroyed her puppy collar in the night last night. I have no idea how she did it. It was on snug so she couldn't get her mouth on it, but I woke up this morning and she was nekkid and the collar was under her, chewed in about 4 spots.

Every day this week I've woken up to something she has destroyed. I HATE crate rest.

And to prevent more of these -- I need to buy lots and lots of things to stuff into Kongs.

Not sure on how much longer. She's been about a week now and is just as lame as before. She has a vet appointment tomorrow. I'm about 95% certain it's a pulled muscle right on the front of her leg, up high to her shoulder. When we look her leg over, that's the only spot we can get any kind of pain reaction out of her for. So we'll see what the vet prescribes and how much more crate rest she recommends. I'm thinking at least another two weeks. Siiigh.

Dystructodawg is back.

Lots of raw bones and puzzles? Sessions of nosework too!

I'm so sorry, we had to crate rest each mal last year for injuries (stupid shepherd breeds and their lack of self preservation) and it was miserable!

I'm most pissed off about the collar, lol. I think I only paid $5 for it, if that (a friend made it for us) but I had it from last March, so months before she was even born, and I was planning on keeping it because I don't have Bella's puppy collar and that bothers me. And she went and ruined it, the brat!

This is miserable. If I thought back in February was bad, it's only worse now cause her energy level has gone up.

Ugh, yeah, Auggie on crate rest was horrible. =< He'd come launching out of his crate when I opened it, usually throwing himself against my legs in the process, grab whatever was nearest, and immediately start ripping it to shreds. And he was almost SIX. He doesn't even get the excuse of puppy energy. Ugh.

Do you have a chiropractor up there you can see? I know some people have had dogs come up with stuff that appears to be muscular and it turns out to be a tweaked vertebrae... might be worth a try if the vet can't come up with anything...

I don't know if we have one local or not... if after the vet tomorrow I think she needs to see one, I'll start asking around.

I really do think it's a muscle, based on the fact that it's when you touch that spot it's sore. So it's like a sore to the touch thing. I can move it all around and she hardly says a word, but I guess I'll see what the vet says tomorrow.

Now I'm on the hunt for collars. I am looking at leather ones, but I'm leery to get one for her just yet, since she's only 7 months old.
