Google is failing me, so I'm hoping someone here may be of help.

I'm on the pill for the first time in a loooong time (was on it in middle school to regulate my period), and from my understanding (read: googling) you can still bump uglies during the sugar pills because you aren't fertile during that time.

So, if my period doesn't start by the first sugar pill, does that mean I am unprotected/more at risk of becoming pregnant if I do the dirty? Sometimes it doesn't come until half way through the sugar pills, so should I be obstaining during that time?

The depo shot was WAY easier than this

I am pretty sure you can... as long as you keep up taking the pills all the other days. My understanding was as long as you are regular with taking the pills every night you can "do it" every day.... I never even took the sugar pills...lol but then again, I was horrible at taking pills every night, still am.

.... yeah depo is way easier.. I need to start weening off it..lol

I'm pretty sure you're safe, but I'm paranoid, so I'd use a condom or another back-up BC just in case.

No, you're totally fine, even if you're not bleeding at the time. When I was on the pill I never started my period until 2-3 days after I started the blanks.

The Pill generally prevents you from ovulating at all, so you are okay. I usually don't start until my 4th day through the sugar pills, and I've been taking it for years now. As long as you are keeping up, taking it at the same time every day, so on, you're fine.

I should mention, because I'm not sure if it was really made clear, you should be using protection the entire first month/first pack....especially if you didn't start the pack while you were on your period.

Thanks guuuuys. Yeah, I've been on the pill for like 4 months now, never missed a pill. All I have to say about that is thank dog for phone alarms, or else I would NEVER remember.

Wow, seeing the other answers I see how paranoid I am. And I'm terrified of depo. :p
But I'm totally on board with phone alarms. Mine set on a really annoying ringtone works better then any alarm clock I've ever had.

My phone alarm would be set, it would go off, and I'd be all "WHY ARE YOU GOING OFF?" and ignore it XD
Hahaha! Mine says BC in big letters across the screen. And the alarm is a pin ball machine sound. At my last store if I was out front my coworkers would come and tell me it was time for me to take my pill :p

I've done that.

Luckily I have an even more annoying alarm - paranoid husband who hates children.

I'm really trying to get off of them, though. I've used them for years, but ever since I switched to Yaz, I'm all kinds of messed up.

And I'm terrified of depo. :p
QUOTE]

I loved only getting a shot once every 3 months, but my side effects on depo were TERRIBLE. I mean, it was excellent birth control, because I didn't want anyone near me. LOL
That's what scares me about depo- the side effects. And I made the mistake of reading the horror stories that there's a huge list of for about every medication, and I've never been able to get them out of mind!
LOL! "Don't ****ing even touch me!" sounds like excellent BC. :D

My BC is awful children, with a back-up of the pill. ;)

I'm the same way with Depo. And now Yaz. Grrr.

Anyone had any experience with the in-your-arm-thingy? I've read horror stories about that, too.

I have the Implanon, the "in-your-arm-thingy". I love it. Have had no adverse affects from it and love the freedom it gives me. No worrying about pills or shots etc. It works for 3 years. At that time, I will decide whether to get another one or not!

What side effects do you guys get from the depo shot? I've considered it, but then again I'm really bad at making doctors appointments when I should..I put it off and hate going in.

I can't do the pills, I get severe headaches that drive me nuts.
