Do You Still Like Your Dog's Name?

I am pretty terrible when it comes to naming anything... But Maddie's name was instant, it took no time at all to name her (Maddolyn) and start calling her Maddie, oddly enough. And even though its pretty common, it fits her SOOO well! It's perfect.
It took me a while to pick Bailey... I wanted something less common, but nothing else seemed to suit her. And then of course it took me a while to pick a spelling. I still think I should've spelled it differently, just to annoy Jess LOL

Nope, I love all their names. Jack may be a common name especially for a dog, but I don't know any other District Attorney Jack McCoy's (confuses the receptionists at the vet every time they call to confirm his appointments). Jonas probably has the most simple name, but it's my favorite male name. When Magpie came to us her name was Magpie and I used to HATE it. I don't know why, but after she was adopted and came back she was still Magpie and I grew to love it. Shambles and Smalls are probably my favorite names.

Elsa is actually a name I find terrible, but her name sake (Elsa the Lioness) means a lot so it fits.

You're a jerk. I would have disowned you if you did that.

Saga's name is perfect for her and I wouldn't change it for the world.

As much as I like the idea behind the name Murray in theory, I'm not real sure if it's working in practice.

Docket is perfect for him still, especially since it rhymes with "Rocket" and allows me to joke that frankly, he's not properly filed . . . there's some motions and briefs missing, you know . . .


I LOVE Sarama's name though. It's an anglicized pronunciation of a mythological dog that was the companion to Vedic god Indra. When I first saw her, I thought she looked just like I imagined Sarama to look when I was studying Hinduism . . . and it still suits her. As does the mythological role. "Herald of the dawn." Yes, she is. (The pronunication difference is that my dog's name is "Sah-RAAH-mah" and the correct Sanskirt pronunication is "suh-RUH-muh . . . I used the English corruption because it is frankly easier to say). It does get old explaining her name . . . but its still the right name for her.

I never really liked Spencers name. I wanted to keep his litter name "Ego" but my ex refused to let me name my own dog. So, I made a list of names I tolerated and he picked Spencer out of that list. It's not a terrible name. But Ego really fits him. His nickname is still Ego, though. So, I could in theory just stop calling him Spencer altogether.

I like Dixie's name. For her. She is a rebel. It fits.

Sprouts name was chosen for her about six months before conception. When we started planning the litter, we named the puppies. Our litter theme was Harry Potter Professors and I chose her registered and call name at that time.

Schaffer's name fits him. (It's German for shepherd with an extra 'f'.) He likes to herd and look after his family.

I still like Kailey's name, but I wish I had used a different spelling. It's supposed to be pronounced with a long 'i', not a long 'a'.

I still like Sally's name and feel that it suits her. My only regret with Jack's name is that I would have liked to use it as a baby name.

I had Quinn picked out for years before I got her as my first BC girls name, it suited her from the get go and I still love it on her. It suits her "dudey" personality and I like that its still a name but not common at all.
I sometimes wish I had made her official name "Quindelin" or "Quindlay" and her nickname be Quinn.
I have lots of names picked out for future dogs aswell. I'm very picky.

For Buster it was all that ever suited him and it's still perfect on him so I love it for that.

Pax came with that name and since it means peace is very well suited for him.
JackJack ( jack) was named for the baby in the incredibles. he turns to diffrent things just as fast as that wee child. (Sides you should see the weird looks we get when i tell him to lay down as he learned dutch when we spoke to pax, so he knows Jack off means to lay down..LOL)
Puck is named for robin goodfellow from a midsummers night dream ofc. Though half the time he answers to monkey which is what he gets called when he is balanced on the back of the couch perching to jump in my lap.

I named all three of the dogs and I still love all of them. I can't imagine different names for anyone - although I REALLY wish I had spelled Mu's name Moo. I have no idea why I thought it was a good idea to spell it the way I did.

I do sometimes wish I had let Matt name Tipper Fish like he wanted to...just because it's funny and then people wouldn't be like "Oh you named her after Tipper Gore?? *hur hur*"

Bobsie came to me as Bobbie when she was about eight years old... Bobby being the name of the guy that raped me as a kid... that had to change, but couldn't be changed TOO far. Bobsie is OK, but I wish I could have renamed her something FAR from her original.
Doom's name, I love. Love, love, love. People look at me and go "Oh, he must be really mean." and if it someone I don't trust, I say "Yeah," and tell them about the time my x broke into my house and got bitten... LOL
Piglet... well, Jon named her. Its better than Montana. I couldn't help but think of Hannah Montana (UGH!!!) every time I thought of her name, and she and Winnie are BFF's so I guess Piglet works... Plus Winnie can sorta say it if "IG!!! IG!!!" counts... Probably my fault for calling her Pig and Pig Pie all the time... LOL

I love Suzie's name, even though I don't usually care for human names on dogs. Well, I suppose I don't mind as long as it fits, and its not a name of a human I know I guess.

I almost named Pip "Flower" after the skunk in Bambi, because we were brainstorming black and white things, but my husband really really didn't like it. Pip suits him way better though, so I'm glad I didn't. (It's nothing to do with being black and white, but just an obscure way to name your dog "Spot" - the spots on dice are called pips.)

Love all three of mine. Their names suit them.

I don't like Darlas name...but it kind of fits her. I like the name Kenai, and Karma, both names fit them well.

My current dogs' names are very, very common. But they suit them so well, so I love them.

Abby is spunky, lively and loves to get her own way. She can be a complete pain in the bum. :lol-sign: But very funny. I've been outwitted by her on more than one occasion.

Grace is sweet, fun-loving, calm, loving. You can depend on her for big stafford cuddles to make your day all ok no matter what. People get a laugh out of her name because Staffords don't seem like the most graceful or sophisticated dogs around (they are clowns really) but once you get past the belching and the other, numerous guttural sounds and her big smile and wiggly bum, there IS a grace and sweetness about her that makes her name really suit.

I still love Quinn's name. It's short, feminine but not too fruity or girly, pretty uncommon, and it has a bit of a background to it (she's named after Quintan Blue, a cutting horse, and I'll be following this theme for my next dog as well).
