Just got an iphone - largely to help organize my life. Problem is...can't seem to find an app that works.

Looking for:

- I'd really like it to sync with google calendar...cause that just makes me nervous to have a free -standing one that could shut down.
- Something that allows me to have a daily routine schedule (have a separate app for this now) - just silly things that I need to be doing on a daily/weekly basis but don't have times attached to them.
---> on the above note, my current routine app doesn't transfer an incomplete action to the next day...which is frustrating. Lets say I vacuum every week...but I mean, it could be fri/sat/sun...I want it on my list til it is done....then to automatically pop back up for the next week (but not have it so it is constantly there)...if that makes sense?
- something that keeps track of due dates - I have weekly assignments, and id love to cross them off when i'm done...however, I need it to pop bck up to remind me for the next week...but obviously not do this right away. So I guess something that will allow me to have a weekly re-occurrence, but then allow me to set when I want to be reminded?

Overall, I just want it to be a reminder to get stuff done & help me stick to a routine. I'd love it to be like "GO TO BED NOW" when it hits a certain time.

I dont have many appointments/crazy work projects I need to keep track of, so its just not that important. More of a ... stop procrastinating because you have this & this & this to do.

KNow anything!??

I have had no luck with a calendar program that syncs with Google Calendar but! I have found two programs that have made it SO much easier to keep my thoughts and organization coordinated.

The first is Evernote. Think of it like a notepad program. Anything you write in it gets sync'd to every single app. It's like Google Documents, except it will sync everything to your android/iphone too. Super handy for while I'm on the go, think of something, write it out in evernote, and when I get back to work I see the note that I need to do whatever on my computer. It syncs with an unlimited amount of stuff, so you could have an Evernote app on your phone, one on your computer, one on your laptop, one on your work computer and anything you write on any computer gets sync'd to the rest.

The second is Dropbox. Anything I put in dropbox gets automatically shared to every program I have. Super handy. I find more ways to use it to help streamline my life every day.

Do you have Siri?
I usually just tell her to remind me everyday at 3 to go to class.
or to do laundry wednesdays.
etc..
lol she never forgets.

I'd really like it to sync with google calendar.
In that case you should have gotten an Android. I know that's not at all helpful now, but something to think about for a future upgrade!

You can set up your Gmail as an exchange account. It'll sync your mail, contacts, and calendar. I also ditched the stock mail app and downloaded the Gmail app. Reminders is kind of helpful. It's like a little checklist. You can set times for it to notify you to do things and mark them as completed as you do them.

Honestly, I think the widgets on Android are more useful. You can have to-do lists right on your home screen. I got the iPhone because it was free. I hate it, lol. I wanted the Galaxy Nexus.

the reminders and calendar app that comes with your iphone will serve that purpose :) reminders sets up to-do lists and such, while calendar sets up daily/weekly/monthly repeating or not repeating reminders!

Siri is also great at reminders. Just tell her "Remind me on jan 5th that it's my mom's birthday" or "Remind me every wednesday to do laundry!"
Also, you can set up I-Cloud so your computer/phone sync (email, calendar, etc.. wise)

and of course, ALL of googles applications have an Iphone app :D

so you can sync everything that way if you prefer

Iphone are awesome! Have fun :D

Except Google Calendar... Lol.

The best option is to set up your Google account as an exchange account. You can use Apple's calendar app, and it will sync with your Google account. If you check your Google calendar from a computer, it will be there, without having to set up iCloud.

Forgot to add the link lol

^ this will make it so you can enable your google calendar on your iphone (since usually the only one that works on there is the one it came with)

and more info on how to make your google calendar sync with your iphone:

Check out Cozi Family Organizer. This is my favorite. You can access it online (www.cozi.com) as well as download the app for it, and they sync up. My favorite part of the app is the grocery list.
