o_O HOLY COW! When I read "Drew a gun" I thought she pulled out a gun and aimed it at someone/something.........not DREW it on a paper with a pencil! o_O

Wow, just wow. I don't care where this happened, it's just another example of paranoia and over reaction that is holding us all captive in one form or another!

WOW. That's insane!

The detective told him that his four-year-old daughter had drawn a picture of a man holding a gun. When a teacher asked her who the man was, the girl replied, “That’s my daddy’s. He uses it to shoot bad guys and monsters.â€
GOOD LORD. It's a child! They have imaginations! If that's the "evidence" they go by, then they need to arrest my brother-in-law for being a vigilante. When my niece was four, she drew a picture of him as Batman.

Even though all the guns here are registered, my dad has a license, the ridiculous transport permit that makes you describe your exact route to the gun range etc... I was always told to never mention them at school. His view is that all teachers and school workers are pinkos and do-gooders who WILL report you "to the appropriate authorities" whenever their "this is not PC!!" sense starts tingling. Well that isn't exactly true I didn't think I'd ever see his paranoia realized. lol!

No kidding, we were the "K-team" running around town when we were kids. the "K" stood for Kids of course and we saved our town so many times with our "guns".

I'll be happier when people aren't so paranoid

I am happy guns are pretty restricted here, but what kid hasn't run around saving the world? I debated about going into the military due to wanting to get the bad guys when I was a kid.

I don't think people need guns in our (Canadian) society, but I think this fear of guns is over the top. I wonder if that kid had drawn a cross bow or a cannon if anyone would have cared...?

That's a good point. it probably would have gone unnoticed.

Also what kid doesn't see their daddy or a parent as the one who takes care of the bad guys and monsters in their closet?

This just sounds like a case of guilty until proven innocent.

I lived in Newfoundland as a kid. We all had 'talks' about what happens if you see a moose. Now this was back in 1980, but we were told to go to a house, ANY house (OMG strangers!!) and tell them there was a moose wandering and ask if you could call your parents, or wait till it left.

Totally agree with you on that.

My friends and I used to 'shoot' each other with toy blocks that looked like guns in junior school and no one cared. It's crazy how far this fear has gone. I keep thinking there must be more to the story, but the sad thing is there probably isn't.

You know, you would think that, because these are generally the SAME people who are SO upset that kids see violence on television that that it MIGHT GIVE THEM IDEAS . . . that perhaps she got the idea from . . . TELEVISION????

It has gotten completely ridiculous.

In my niece's old elementary school, the kids couldn't even PRETEND to have guns. I'm not even kidding. The classic make-believe children's games like cops and robbers, soldier, Wild West, etc., were off limits. According to my sister-in-law, one child got in big trouble for simply pointing his forefinger at another student and shouting "bang!" while playing during recess.
