Juno is currently eating Natures Domain which has 336 kcals/cup. I am going to be trying her on Fromm Surf & Turf which has 422 kcals/cup.

That sounds like a significant difference. Right now she gets 3 cups a day.... when I switch her to Fromm, should I start out feeding less and adjust from there, or stick with the 3 cups and see how that goes...?

I don't normally pay this much attention when switching foods lol.... but I really, REALLY want her to do well on this!

336X3=1008
1008/442=~2.23

If she's doing well on 3 cups right now, I'd go to 2 1/4 cups to start and go from there :)
I agree with this. Though if you're gradually switching foods I'd continue with 3 cups until you're 100% the new food. I know my guys always act half-starved if I drop it down suddenly to the "new amount".

YAY MATH!!!!

Lol I never would have thought to do that.

Sounds logical!

Thanks :)

Except now I just realized I have to get my mom on board and she's going to flip and think I'm trying to starve Juno. Sometimes I wish she were more hands-off with the dogs lol.

I switch cold turkey no ill effects. We went from core with more calories to nature's domain with less. I automatically fed about 1/2 cup more a day off the bat.

I also calculate if I'm going to be feeding a different-calorie food for a while. However I generally switch every bag, one bag low one bag high, and just keep it at whatever they are before unless I see someone adding/dropping weight.

I had to back off yo 3 cups a day for Logan when I switched to Nature's Variety, but Gavroche stayed at 2 cups a day. Now that they're on TOTW again, Logan's back up to 4 cups and Gavroche is still at 2 cups. Now I'm switching Gavroche to Victor this week and Logan to TOTW Wetlands and I plan on keeping those for a while, so in that case I'll calculate what they need based on what they eat now.

I wouldn't worry about it if she wasn't sooo sensitive to food amounts. Doesn't take much of an "overdose" lol to give her the runs. If it weren't for that I'd just keep her at 3 cups since she maintains her weight well.

But it would be super awesome if I could feed her less Fromm. I don't know how much food she goes through a month but if she can make 26lbs last, then she eats for free which would be nice!
