Does anyone have any experience with cushing-syndrom?
Gipsy hasn't been diagnosed yet, but we are pretty sure she has it - she has all the symptoms. We just feel it would not be a good idea to put her though a stress test, seeing as she is turning 12 in about a month. :(

At work we diagnose with an ACTH stimulation test- blood sample, injection of corticotrophin gel into the muscle, and a second blood sample an hour later. It's not a big deal.

Treatment is sort of high maintenance at the beginning, but once you get her leveled off, it's usually pretty routine.

Good luck with her :)

Hmm interesting - our vet only wanted to diagnose with a stress test.

Thanks :)

Kota has it. They just did blood samples with him. What kind of stress test are they talking about..? Not sure how that would help with the diagnosis really...

He was REALLY not doing well before going on meds for Cushing's. He's still an old man and doesn't have years and years left, but his quality of life is definitely higher since going on meds.

King is 13 and has had it for over 2 years and is doing great. Once you get the meds figured out it's not all that big a deal. He was back to normal weight (from 83 back to 55) in about six months, free feeding the entire time. Only leftover issue is he is totally food obsessed.
