I'm reading "Reefer Madness" by Eric Schlosser (author of Fast Food Nation.) Interesting but not as good as Fast Food Nation IMO. Just finished the Twilight series...finally got talked into reading them, really liked them actually.
Does that have anything to do with the 30s movie? That was supposed to be a serious movie. . .but I LOLed. :p

War Horse is an older children's book, and I remember reading it in the nix 80's. But I bought it for my nook and I still loved it as an adult. I'm very interested in seeing the movie.
I've never read the book (didn't even know it was a book), but I can't wait to see that movie! The trailer made me all misty-eyed.

I'm about halfway through The Magician King by Lev Grossman, which is the sequal to The Magicians. If you like fantasy-type novels, these are definitely for you. They've been described as a Harry Potter-meets-Narnia-for-adults, which I think is accurate, with The Magicians being more Harry Potter, and The Magician King being more Narnia.

It is definitely an adult book though - it has some dark subject matter, so it's not suitable for children. I would highly suggest to read The Magicians first, or The Magician King won't make a whole lot of sense. They're both excellent, though! It doesn't really feel like a sequel - it just feels like a smooth continuation of the same story.

Going through another cycle of reading all the Harry Potter books. I'm currently at the beginning of The Deathly Hallows.
I've been reading them since I was 7 and they're kind of like a comfort blanket or something. I have to read the whole series for the 9604378116th time every once in a while.

I don't know what to read next. I'm stuck.

ETA: Patricia Cornwell's book gets released tomorrow so I'll be getting that. But I miss her earlier stuff. It was soooooo much better.

LOL, no but he references it a bit. It's about the American black market economy mainly. Interesting stuff.

Loved the Harry Potter books! I got way behind watching the movies, though - I'll have to do a marathon to catch up. :)

Just finished a book of short stories by James Ellroy. Is it weird that I fall asleep reading Ellroy? LOL. All that sex and violence makes me sleeeepy.

Since my last post in this thread I've read about another half dozen Shakespeare plays....a few more Chekov plays (loved Uncle Vanya!), Siddhartha, If On A Winter's Night A Traveler (which was just as amazing as Invisible Cities, it was sort of mind-blowingly good)...and I think that's it.

Currently reading Stronghold by Melanie Rawn. It's the 4th book in her Dragonprince series.

I thought the book was way better. I had a very hard time getting through the movie. I didn't feel any connection.

No, the movie is definitely not as good, but seeing as some movies have sucked so hard compared to the book I wanted to cry, I was pleasantly surprised.

I just finished The Fetch by Laura Whitcomb. A little disappointed in the ending, but it seems to be set up for a sequel.

Working on Cryer's Cross by Lisa McMann now. I should be done that tonight, it's a short book and a fast read (more of a teen target audience).

I have A Certain Slant of Light, also by Laura Whitcomb, downloaded to my Kindle next.

Right now I'm reading No One in the World by E. Lynn Harris and RM Johnson. It's really entertaining and moves quite quickly, even if it isn't the best piece of literary work out there lol.

Ok, so it wasn't fine literature but this was really good. I was reading in bed last night and at the climactic spot when it's a bit creepy the door to my bedroom burst open with my daughter asking me to "tuck her in". I think I peed a little :rofl1:

I reread all my Kristan Higgins books. They make me laugh (out loud....so others in the room think I've got a flask hidden somewhere). And there's a canine character in each book that just makes things that much better. I highly recommend!!

I also readSomethint About You by Julie James. It was easy reading, but had some ohmygoodnessdidthatauthorjustwritethat?! stuff. When it was recommended to me, the person failed to mention that it was a contemporary romance.

I also read The Keeper and Forbidden by Ted Dekker.

I'm currently reading a Robin Kaye trilogy. Again, contemporary romance, but at least it's not like those Harlequin smut books involving cowboys, Indians, and Fabio.

PS- War Horse is a lend me book for the nook, so if anyone would like to borrow it and read it, just shoot me a pm. :)

If you like Dekker, I enjoyed his Circle Trilogy (well, it was a trilogy, but he added a fourth book to that plus the spinoff books). The ones I enjoyed were the color books. Black, White, Red and Green.
