Thanks, Lilavati. I was wondering. I tend against procrastination in my personal habits, so the legal process is painfully slow by my way of thinking.

The legal process IS painfully slow. I'm working on a case right now, a civil litigation between two major companies . . . I've been working on it for two years now. We are still in the "motion to dismiss" phase, where the defendant tries to get the initial complaint dismissed by the court without any further litigation. We've gone through three complaints, three motions to dismiss, three oppositions to the motions to dismiss, and three replies to the oppositions, not to mention a motion for sanctions, a sur-response and a sur-reply . . .one order from the court dismissing the case and one refiling of the case . . . if we don't get the case dismissed and it doesn't settle, I will likely be working on it for at least the next decade, if not the rest of my career. And that's without dealing with the spin off cases . . . Admittedly, I don't work full time on this case (if I did I think I'd kill myself) but "swift" is not a phrase I'd attribute to the American legal system.

yeah it happened here. i live in harris county. the metro K9 unit buys raw from where we work and they were upset about it as well. so so extremely sad. losing talented dogs who work for the community and safety of people is tragic.

Not that the fact that they were K9 dogs does not make it MORE tragic, but 14 living things should not have to die that way. Whether they are highly trained dogs, homeless mutts, or pigs slated for slaughter.
