Sitting watching some TV and getting ready to take out the garbage and head up to bed. I hear the older daughter in the bathroom, which is not unusual. She's 16 and is often up late reading and such. Then I heard her yell, "Eeeewww!" and hear her sister say, "Sorry".

The younger daughter (11) got up to puke. She made it as far as the hallway outside of the bathroom. It was a perfect storm. The 16 year old had carried her stuffed cat with her, but decided to place her in the hallway to keep her from getting wet while she washed up after using the toilet. Of course, that's where her sister vomited

So, there I was, 1 AM, cleaning vomit from the carpet, getting the 11 year old into the shower (puke in the hair and such) and then consoling the devastated 16 year old who now has vomit on her prized stuffed animal. The stuffed cat, the pajamas and washcloths I used in the cleanup efforts are just finishing up in the washing machine and now the 11 year old just came out and puked again. So on top of everything, I'll have her at home tomorrow. Fortunately, I am on vacation until the end of the year (gotta use the time or lose it).

I hear the washing machine has stopped. Time to get it in the dryer.

Yaaaawwwn!!

You couldn't make this stuff up, Eddie

So, do you classify that as a problem or an inconvenience? I KNOW which one the 16 year old considers it :D
It was certainly inconvenient, that's for sure :rofl1:
But yes, the 16 year old was completely devastated that there was puke on her kitty (and on her pajama pants). It's happened before and I dare say it will happen again. Puke doesn't bother me so much. My wife hates cleaning the stuff, so it's a good thing she slept through all of this ;)

I just emailed her homeroom teacher asking for a classwork/homework packet to be prepared. I live across from the school, so I can walk over there and pick it up once it's ready sometime during the day.

Ewwwwwwww. Poor 16 yr old and her stuffed animal. I hope everything cleaned up and hope the little sick one will get over whatever bug she has in time for Xmas. What a lousy time to be sick. Parenthood: comes with all kinds of neat little chores, huh.;)

That rivals the time Cole got rotavirus. I had just changed the very 1st icky, nasty, puke-inducing diaper and had turned my attention to his newborn brother when I heard Cole splashing in liquid. I saw him sitting in the foyer, and I thought he had dumped his drink out and was splashing in it. WRONG. It was liquid all right, but it wasn't his drink and it wasn't his pee. Rotavirus. You figure it out. I've got to go throw up now.

Well, the puke stage seems to be passed, now she's just miserable

Miakoda - that story is just so...Ewwwww! :rofl1:

The stuffed kitty fared well. I tied her tightly in a pillow case and she came out just fine. Phew. It's special to her because she got it during a favorite family vacation. Glad it didn't disintegrate :yikes:

Now that's a good dad! Cleaning up puke late at night....

Sorry, I know how bad it sucks - I see/hear someone puking, and I am ready to puke myself.

My dad was always real good to me when I was sick too - he was great at taking care of everything. I remember when I was 13, I got chicken pox really really bad and he was always bringing my food up to my room, putting calamine lotion on me, and stomaching through it, LOL... gotta love daddies!

I do have to say that if one of them is going to have "the pukes", it's better for this one. She is like me. She just vomits and gets it over with. The older daughter is like their mother. They get all wound up and upset and start choking and everything. When they throw up, it's something that puts them off for hours. Me and the younger daughter both seem to be able to just get it over with and start feeling better :dunno:

[slight diversion]I used to throw up during track and cross country events. I guess I just pushed so hard that my body needed to do that. I even threw up ON a competitor during the last 300 meters of a 5K. We were both "kicking" toward the finish. I beat him :D[/diversion]

And thanks for the kind comments about my dadness. Just part of the job :)

Lol. Cole ended up in the hospital with his issues, so at least I had help there.

And I'm one of those who also throws up if someone else throws up.

I cannot handle it if Brian is throwing up and I know it. he's so great whenever I am sick. he comes in and helps me and gets me water and stuff but I cannot extend the same courtesy to him lol. I cannot be in the room if he's getting sick.

Now when Hannah is throwing up... I am unaffected. It doesn't bother me in the least (other than I'm concerned for her). This past summer we were getting ready to go to a pool party and I had on a sundress over my swimsuit and Hannah walked up to me and BARF... I caught it with my dress LOL

Awww, hope the kiddo is feeling better.

Story time! When I was little, I threw up on my sister's (very expensive) American Girl doll. Of course, I didn't get any on my own American Girl doll, just hers.

Ha, nice, Skivvies :D

Tanya - I think my wife may have decided I was "the one" about the time when she was sick, kneeling at the porcelain throne and I sat on the edge of the tub holding her hair ;)

I am really really bad with throw up...just gag. Luckily my children are both good about making it to the bathroom. And, I shouldnt share this as it will win me a bad wife award lol...but last year DH was sick. I heard him in the bathroom and then I heard a crash. I was half asleep but remember thinking did he just fall? SHould I go check? But then thought about the smell of vomit and fell back asleep :O Yeah, he came back in a couple minutes later..he had actually passed out!

Sad thing is I should be used to vomit. My little brother has as really rare chronic disease and for awhile when he was younger, one of his meds caused him to vomit a lot. EVERY night in the middle of dinner he puked. My other brother and I would go under the table, my dad would throw my mom a roll of paper towels on the way to the bathroom so he could puke, and my mom would clean it all up. THen we would all sit back down and finish dinner.

Rotovirus...shudder. Both my children, my husband, and I ALL had it at the same time...grossest virus ever...shudder. The smell....you know it by the smell
