I just got a call and offered a new job!!!!!!!

AHHHHHH!! I'M SO EXCITED!

Now I have to go to my GM and tell him either they offer me the position I applied for here and do it NOW... or I am giving my two weeks notice. D=

WHOOT!!!!!!!

Congrats! This has been a long time coming.

Now you have to ask yourself, would it be better to just go with the new job rather than continue on someplace where you've had to hold a metaphorical gun to their heads to get anywhere?

I'm with Renee. Anyhow, it's good to move around a little...shows future employers that you aren't the stagnant type and that you are reaching for the stars, not satisfied to sit, waiting for something to just drop in your lap. Congratulations. Go for it if it's what you've been wanting.

Congratulations! Is it in Radio, too?

Either way, I agree with Renee.... Run while you have an opportunity!

Nope, not radio - I just fell into the radio thing and definitely never intended to make it my job for the rest of my life! It's graphic and web design, back towards what I actually went to school for. =>

The only reason I would stay here is because I would be paid more immediately if they gave me the job change (the new job is the same pay initially but with far more opportunity to make more eventually - OTOH I know if I stay here in the SAME job I won't be getting a raise), and also, there's a lot of different perks as far as lifestyle goes. Plus I'd still get to work with some of my best friends if I stayed here. I feel like it's fair to tell them "If you want to make your move and keep me, make it now." They haven't officially told me NO on the job change (there's a lot of stuff going on, it's a long story) but I am not going to sit around waiting. So this is their last chance to say okay.
But I fully expect the GM to reach across the table, shake my hand, and tell me it was great working with me and good luck!

I doubt you've wondered that more than people like me who actually work in radio, Renee. I'm not stupid.

I know you aren't :) You're about as far from stupid as it gets and I never meant to imply any different.

It's something I've honestly wondered about. I'm acquainted with several people who work/have worked in radio here, but they aren't . . . well, they aren't that bright. There may be something going on in the industry relevant that someone who is currently working there -- and has a working mind and pays attention -- would know and could enlighten me about.

Well, I talked to the GM, and he said there's too many things up in the air to be able to give me an answer right now. It's not a flat out "no" but he can't tell me if it WILL be a no or if it will be a yes. They just honestly can't give me an answer yet.
So he basically told me I should probably take the other job offer and if later they want me back, well, they'll just have to call me.

Gotta think a few things over tonight, but I'm pretty sure I'll be taking the offer. And pray I don't get really sick or hurt in the next three months because the benefits package in the meantime kinda sucks. =P If the station calls me back... well, I might come back. Guess it depends how the new job is working out!
