A lot of the ones already named get me - Lion King, Up, Finding Nemo (when the wife fish gets eaten trying to protect her babies :(), Lilo And Stitch, Homeward Bound, The Green Mile, Ladder 49, the same Dr. Who episodes that Zoom named, Dumbo, The Notebook, Moulin Rouge. << Those are all the ones from the thread lol.

Man on Fire

Dollhouse - when Paul dies.

Land Before Time - when Littlefoot's mother dies OMG. The rest of those movies suck though, I'm pissed they ruined them.

I'm sure there are others but I tend to read a lot more sad books than movies. And after I've read the book I won't watch the movie so...yeah. I could probably name more books that have made me cry. :p

In Law & Order: SVU, in Loss, when Alex gets shot and enters Witness Protection, and meets Elliot and Olivia in a parking lot somewhere to tell them. And the first episode of season 13, Scorched Earth, at the end, when Cragen tells Olivia that Elliot left (without telling her), and she goes into the interrogation room and cries.
Oh my goodness, yes this one. A LOT of SVU episodes make me cry. Especially the last episode Elliot did and he shot that little girl, I cried like a baby.

Forrest Gump - I think I cried through half of this movie.

I Am Legend - Again, pretty sure I cried through half of this movie.

The Green Mile - I cried everytime they showed the big black dude (I can NEVER remember his name!)
When Mufasa dies in the Lion King and Simba goes up to him and tries waking him up.
Ditto ^

The Notebook - enough said. I cried through the whole d@mn movie. One of the saddest movies I've ever watched in my life, especially the ending.

Armagedon - One of my all time favorite movies, but also one of the saddest.

Seven Pounds - This movie touched me on such a deep level, I couldn't help but cry, especially at the end when they tell you what he was actually doing.

Every Disney movie makes me cry; Dumbo, Lion King, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, etc etc.

Homeward Bound made me cry, for the same reasons yall listed.

Saving Private Ryan is my FAVORITE movie of all time and I have seen it a thousand times but the beginning of the movie and the end where Tom Hanks dies, gets me everytime.

I can go on and on. I cry at least once during about every movie I see.

Lots of scenes bring on a few tears. But I agree, nothing is as gut wrenchingly desperately sad as Grave of the Fireflies. OMG I just sat there with tears rolling down my face for what felt like ages. Then had to go cuddle my dog and go stand in the sunshine.

Great movie.. but yikes. I think what makes it so sad is the fact its such a real storyline.

Does it count if I cry at the box office and then again at the concession stand?

John Coffey... like the drink, only not spelled the same. :p

How did I forget Saving Private Ryan too? OMG, cry central.

AND Toy Story 3, I forgot that one too. Me and my mom cried at the end and my little sister (3) was laughing at us.

I've never seen The Plague Dogs. Not sure I WANT to. lol.

As for a serious answer, it depends on the situation. I've been known to choke up at the appropriate scenes, not much makes me bawl (except foe the aforementioned concession pricing).

I will say that we saw Courageous in late October. There were several moments when a theater full of dads had the tears flowing.

Not much makes me cry. However, there are a few...

The Adventures of Yellow Dog - the bit when he's on the log, and the boy gets lifted and the dog falls. When he gets left, that makes me cry.

Homeward Bound 1 & 2 - when it looks like Shadow isn't going to get out of the pit. And in the 2nd one when Chance is under the lorry and you think he's dead.

Eight Below - this one is really bad, when he pulls the chain of collars out of the ground, and the last one is dead under the snow :(

Yup, human films don't bother me :p

Ladder 49 made me cry terribly too.
This is a big one for me too. Brian took me to see it on our like second date or something and I was sobbing in the theater LOL I can't believe he stuck around after that :rofl1:

I cry at movies all the time.

The scene that gets me sobbing the hardest is the "Married Life" montage in "Up!"
http://youtu.be/GroDErHIM_0
I really should not have looked that up on youtube...crying so hard now. :(
Oh yes another one... the beginning of that movie is so heartbreaking.

Dumbo- pretty much anytime they make fun of him, but definatly when his mom is rocking him to the song "Baby mine"

!
AHHHHHHHH Dumbo. This is probably the scene that makes me cry more than any other movie. Just thinking about her rocking him through the bars... I'm crying already lol. I can't even hear the song baby mine

I've cried more over Grey's Anatomy than any other show or film ever.

I've also screamed at the tv more over Grey's than anything else.

S6 finale? There was mucho screaming and crying going on, my mother thought i was dying.

When Denny died? Sobbing.

When Mer and Derek and Addie had to put Doc the dog down? Sobbing.

When Mer doesn't swim and is totally apathetic in the dream sequence? Screaming.

When George died? Sobbing.

When they ended S5 with Izzie flatlining? Sobbing.

Oh god there's so many.

Oh another one is from the Young and the Restless. how could I forget.

The scene where Cassie Newman dies. The character (and the same actress played her the whole time) had been on the show since she was only about 4 or 5 years old and it was like I had watched her grow up and then she dies with her mom and dad by her bedside and her dad was singing her a lullaby as she passed away

GAH... tears

Ever watch Grave of the Fireflies?... yeah.... :*( There's me... sobbing like a little girl.
Oh god, I love that movie, but it is horribly sad. It just left me feeling numb.

Marley & Me - I always vow to NEVER watch this movie again. Then I always catch it when it's on TV and ALWAYS watch it and ALWAYS cry. lol.
I also refuse to watch this movie again. It was so happy...then the end came and I was crying so hard I couldn't breath.

I also agree with all the mention of Disney movies. I recently watched Homeward Bound, and when Shadow appears over the hill? Lost it. The Lion King, UP, and Land Before Time (not a Disney movie but whatever) also make me bawl.

Only only exposure to anime before that was "Wolf's Rain", many episodes of which also made me shed tears
Oh my gosh, this is the only anime I like, and by like, I mean love to absolute death. I was a mess by the end of it.

I'm gonna have to look up The Plague Dogs. Never heard of it! Love a good cry.
The full, uncut version is on Youtube :)

I've never seen The Plague Dogs. Not sure I WANT to. lol.
You should watch it :D It's a REALLY good movie, just...dark. And really hard for dog lovers to watch. But I still loved it.

As for some others that make me cry:

RENT. It made me cry happy tears at the end, and sad tears when Angel died. I love love love that musical/movie <3

The His Dark Materials trilogy. Those books really affected me in a way no other book has.

I don't really cry during movies. But some of the more intensely distressing movies have already been named except maybe for Million Dollar Baby and Pay It Forward. Not sure those have been mentioned yet.

Oh, and as far as books go, I come close to crying every time I read the third book of The Hunger Games, Mockingjay. But only at one part. When her prep team goes into the cafeteria for the first time. That just breaks my heart.

I love the scene in Enchanted when they are dancing and he starts to sing.
This. Enchanted is one of my favorite movies of all time just because of this very scene.

Marley and Me of course. When he finally calls Marley a good dog.

The Notebook. All of it, duh. I love this movie sooo much.

New Moon when Edward leaves Bella. I bawl every time, and I've seen that movie soooo many times. I really don't even really like any of the other movies (Breaking Dawn pt. 1 was decent) but New moon is amazing.

That 70's show when Eric breaks up with Donna and says "If you can picture a future without me in it, and that doesn't like, break your heart, then maybe we're not doing what I thought we were doing here." Not a movie, but I've seen every single episode at least 10 times each.

And it's not really a "sad" movie, but I cry during the entirety of The Justin Bieber movie, Never Say Never. Particularly when they show him singing on youtube at the beginning, and then they dramatically switch to showing him preparing for his Madison Square Garden show. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. That's the moment when I realized I was a true Justin Bieber fan. I liked him before I saw the movie, but I loved him afterward.
