I've become increasingly worried about Basol.

She stopped eating after a bit of a traumatic event involving horking up a superworm three times. This was about a month and a half ago. Since then, I've been able to coerce her to eat two small supers at different times, but that's it.

I wasn't too worried at first, especially since a lot of geckos turn down food in the winter (she barely ate last winter, once every two weeks or so)... but lately her tail has been shrinking down some, so my concern is growing. My guess is her metabolic process is slowing to shutdown mode and I need to jumpstarty it soon, or I risk losing her. :(

I'm increasingly scared about this now that I've lost my other gecko, who was perfectly healthy and eating fine. I can't deal with losing both so quickly.

I'll be getting some waxworms and seeing if the high-fat high-smell will get her eating, and if so, I'll do a few days of waxies then try worms/crickets again. I'd rather not do crickets, but if I have to... she may be put off worms at this point.

Vibes plz. I long to see this scene again!

Vibes for being a healthy eater again! If not, there's a slurry recipe on geckoforums (or there used to be) that's a great way to keep weight on reluctant-to-eat geckos.

The trouble with that is I'd have to force-syringe it. Leos don't eat what doesn't move. Forcing it would cause more stress and likely more feeding issues. Most leo enthusiasts don't recommend it.

We tried butterworms last night to no avail. A few times she'd lock on to it, and then think better of actually eating it... so there's interest, at least. We'll try waxworms (the silver bullet of gecko feeding) once the shipment arrives on Friday. In the meantime, I'll continue trying butterworms.

This is frustrating. JUST EAT ALREADY.

SHE ATE.

One butterworm, but she chomped it down. I'll try another butterworm tomorrow to get her metabolism going. Hopefully the hard part's over...
