Probably too late, but ER, or even better yet, hospitol!

I had that in my thumb when I was 12 or so. They caught it early enough, but to this day I don't have feeling in the top joint of my thumb. This resulted in my pulling my thumb out of a locked car door and damaging even more. Not fun.

I'm so mad. His freaking step father ended up talking him out of going to the ER saying it looks like it could just be a bad bruise. That area of his skin wasn't hit by the hatchet at all and it really doesn't look like regular bruising to me and he said it doesn't hurt like a bruise would since he has absolutely no feeling there. There is definitely nerve damage for sure and the doctor had said he would probably have nerve damage, but there is just something so off about this that I really just want him to go in and not risk possibly losing his thumb.

He's being so **** stubborn that I just ended up saying, "FINE! But if you lose your **** thumb don't you dare complain to me about it!"

I'm so mad at his step dad right now too for not seeing the urgency in this

Augh! That's scary and frustrating. Dumb stepdad. I wish Josh would just go in. Do you guys have insurance to cover the visit? If so, there really isn't an excuse.

Make him go. A bruise would have shown up before now. If hes not feeling anything in that area its a cause for major concern.

Fresh bruising isn't gray. He very well may lose his thumb. I'd go to the ER, insurance or not. Consulting his step dad for medical advice was a bone head move,.

If he's worried about the cost, try to find an urgent care center-they tend to be cheaper.

Doesn't he work with his hands? Impress upon him what losing his thumb would do to his ability to work....

Hoping for a good update....

It looks some infected. Hyia's dog bite looked a whole lot like that before it cleared up a few days later. IT is still that raw ugly red. The dog really nailed her one, and clamped down.

He hasn't mentioned being worried about the cost, but I'm pretty sure the thought has crossed his mind. I've already told him not to worry about the cost when its a medical emergency. He doesn't have insurance. I'm the only one with health insurance.

He's an electrician and carpenter so he uses his hands a lot in his line of work. He's still being stubborn about going to the ER though. Ugh seriously why are men so darn stubborn sometimes???

He has been icing his thumb a bit today and the swelling has gone down. His thumb is back to normal size but there is still that gray area. Still has no feeling in half his thumb. I told him that if it doesn't look considerably better by tomorrow morning then he needs to go to the ER asap. I just hope he listens to me.

I really hope he starts to take this seriously... I'd hate to see him lose his thumb just because he's being "a man". They SUCK when they're stubborn like this!!

I'll still be thinking a lot about you guys until this is resolved!
