I was on Ortho Tri sprintec when I was on the pill. It is a low hormone pill. Like most pills, you can skip the sugar pills with no ill effect. Also, even without ANY insurance, it was only 9 bucks a month at Walmart. If you don't have insurance, the pharmacy won't give you any issues about WHEN you refill it.
Ortho bought out Sprintec and you can no longer get a generic version of Ortho, so even with my insurance it was $25/month.

Now I'm sure there are generic versions of other pills, but not Ortho.

I am on deppo and have been for 3 years. I have not been on my period since I started it, even when I missed my shot for a month. I have had no bad side effects from it.

If you're uncomfortable, get a second opinion.

I'm not well versed on endometriosis, but my cousin just had a second surgery because of her endometriosis. The first was to go in and scrape out the uterus. In this one, she had to have her entire right ovary and Fallopian tube removed. Endometriosis can be pretty detrimental. And fertility problems tend to be an issue whether you treat it or not.

I wish you the best!

The only thing I have to add, and this may not be a problem for you, but depo KILLED my sex drive. DEAD. KILLED IT DEAD. :p

For nearly TWO years after I got the shot, (and I only have it ONCE) it was waaay lower than normal. It's JUST now starting to get back to what it was before the shot, and since that was one of the only reasons I got it (lol, TMI I guess) it was very upsetting.

I have a Mirena IUD which makes a lot of woman not have a period. i know it is more widely used in woman who have had children but I have seen more and more people who have not have children tell me they have it, so it may be worth looking into.

I have had mine a few months. I have some spotting when I wipe, but nothing that is enough to ever even wear a liner. My dr and friends with one say that by a year there is nothing. I can deal with that!

Huh? When? I've been taking Sprintec for years, and still got some as of last week. It's only $10 a month for me.

To add, I just had a new prescription written for it last month. I think my doctor would have mentioned if it didn't exist anymore.

Probably about 2 years ago is when they told me they didn't have Sprintec anymore. At least not in the low dose hormones cuz that's that kind I had. And at that time the way my insurance was I didn't have a co-pay I had to pay it all out of pocket and then apply for a refund which I wouldn't get until my $500 deductible was paid so it was costing me about $50/month.

I remember reading about it being something about a lawsuit between them and ortho and seems like I read that ortho bought them out or something, but can't find the right info now.

Maybe it all got straightened out and they have the generic version back. Haven't been on BC in a year, so not sure now.

This is true. A friend of mine had a lot of problems with her endometriosis... ultimately they had to remove her uterus. Actually she was the one who told me to go to the doctor about endometriosis after I was talking about my problems and she was like "hold up - that sounds almost exactly like what I used to go through. You need to go to the doctor NOW."

I also agree about getting a second opinion instead of waiting for the feelings of death and puking to roll around with your period if you don't want to do that. And uhhh yeah I totally get why you wouldn't want to do that hahaha. I just went right back on the depo because I KNEW it would work rather than trying "regular" birth control "just to see" if I would be okay now. so yeah, I definitely get wanting to avoid that experience.

Yup. As someone who just got OFF Depo after only getting 2 shots (so 6 months on it total), I would never recommend it to anyone. I only got it to try it to see if I reacted well to it since the estrogen heavy pills tend to give me migraines. Boy do I regret it.. mainly because it takes FOREVER to truly get out of your system. I've never had a "normal" sex drive, but the Depo is one that really killed it. As in, I could care less if I ever have sex or any kind of "that" attention ever again at this point.. and I'm 24.. not exactly normal.
I was supposed to get my 3rd shot back in October and I said screw it, not worth it.. went through a crazy emotional 2wks. and am just now feeling normal again. That and, I have been having thinning hair for the past couple years and the Depo definitely didn't help that! Bleh.

I've been on/off BC since I was a senior in high school, so since 2005. Did the Nuvaring for awhile and had the same issue with my insurance not wanting to cover it if I did it for 3wks. then immediately put another one in.. however my Dr. wrote some kind of note to my insurance (also BCBS) and got it approved eventually.

You really can take any type of BC pill continuously.. it worked well for me to pretty much stop my periods. I've heard great things about the Mirena IUD as well.

Bizarre, I had mine filled the last time in September. It was $9 bucks at Wal-mart, once again, withOUT any sort of insurance plan. I shopped around and it was like $25+ elsewhere.

As far as sex drive and depo goes, I still have a sex drive, hahaha. I used to go through cycles and it would spike REALLY high right before my period... now I'm, uh, more evened out shall we say, LOL.

That is a risk with any birth control though. Start putting hormones and artificial hormones in your body and you can screw with that stuff.
