As annoying as what I've been reading says? The boytoy needs a new nipple ring (if he lets it close I am going to punch him in the face), and I loooove the look of the captive segment rings. Everything I've read says now I need to also purchase opening/closing pliers... boooo.

So... worth it, or seriously annoying?

You mean these right?

Only possibly not with flames lol.

I always found them a giant pain in the ass. I didn't use pliers (ever tried to plier your own captive ring IN YOUR EAR?? Spoiler: it doesn't work and it makes you throw pliers) and I was able to get the balls in and out. BUT. I have lost so freaking many of those stupid tiny balls. I only use the CBR's when I have someone else to help me with them, and only when I won't get irrationally angry about losing things. My vote goes for seriously annoying.

I don't use them anymore. I find them a pain in the ass honestly. I've got quite a bit of piercings too and I've tried these out in most of my piercings but they are just too annoying.

I had one in my ear. I took it out after having the piercing for about 14 months. I couldn't put it back in right away, so I waited about 3 hours for my mom to get home to help me, and THE STUPID PIERCING CLOSED. I mean, not totally closed, but enough so that I couldn't get the ring back through it :(

Anyway, it's really difficult to get the ball back on...might be easier if you had someone else to do it, I don't know.

They put those in my ears right after I had them pierced. After the piercings healed I took them out so I could start wearing other earrings and I have never been able to get them back in... which is a shame because I LOVE how they look. But yeah, trying to get the effing balls to fit back in there when it's not just in front of you in your hands is a PITA.

I have one of these in my ear (I think?), and I'm constantly playing with it. In class last year I stuck a pencil end in it (lol, I was bored) and ended up taking the ball out of it, by mistake, and lost the little ball, but managed to find it on the floor, then was thinking "Oh ****, how am I gonna put this back in?" but then was able to put in back in, no problem...? By how hard people are saying they are to put in, maybe I'm mistaken.

They are a PITA - but if you want to keep the piercing in for a while, they are worth it, IMO.
I had on for a while, and I recently switched over to a little stub, but also with a ball at the end, much more comfertable to sleep with.

You can get a really cheap ring opener/closer set of two pliers with a nice case for like $20 on www.bodyartforms.com

I had to buy a 10g 5/8" titanium ring with a stone bead for my conch because the piercer who pierced it obviously did not use surgical grade SS because of my body's reaction to it. High quality piece of jewelry and they autoclave everything for like a $5 fee if you want. I got some titanium and glass septum jewelry at the same time, very reasonable prices!

I have captives in my nipples. I like them better than any of the other styles, at least for that area. Any of the other styles make it look like i have four nipples instead of one.

Also, when I change jewelry, I just go to the piercing shop and have them change it out, most places don't charge to swap out jewelry, beyond the jewelry purchase itself.

I prefer CBRs. 5 in my ears.. 12, 14 and 16g. 8-10g in my navel and lower. 12-16g.. I can pop the beads. Larger.. no dice. Metal beads, less play in them.. Plastic or stone beads.. Slip in and out of their groves easier.

well...I laughed. And then when I went to quote it and re-read it, I laughed again.

I have barbells in my nipples... My boobs are big so the piercer said the barbells would be better for my girls as far as healing is concerned.

I used to have a captive bead in my ear... Once I took it out there was no way I could get it back in. I thought about switching my septum ring jewelry to a captive bead ring but decided against it because I don't want to go through the trouble to get it in correctly and also I flip my septum ring up sometimes so...

Oh wow, I have great phrasing.
I snorted.

I went ahead and ordered them - they're not even CBR (the beads) they're CSR - so they look like just an unending ring. They'll probably be even more of a pain in the arse but quite frankly he's had his **** nipples done for soooo long that once it's in, it'll spin and be easy to clean (I hope) and we won't have to fight with it very often. lol thanks everyone :)

(and all you ladies are making me want to get mine done!)

I had a captive bead ring in my bellybutton for 14 years, until I had to take it out for an MRI last week and was never able to get the freaking ball back in. There might have been swearing and thowing of pliers.

So now there's a barbell in it.
