I think I need name help...

Mama was a working BC on a farm; daddy was some free spirited drifter who wandered into town. Judging by the litter, probably some sort of staffy/pit type. The puppies were tossed in a trailer and lined up to be disposed of because they would not sell as mixes in farmland. Someone grabbed them and got them to Vermont. A good friend has been fostering him and one littermate (who was placed) and has been great about holding on to him for me and socializing the bejeesus out of him while I make up my mind.

He is going to stay small, he is brave and confident while being super respectful of adult dogs, already swims, fetches and plays tug, lays quietly in a pen in the midst of an agility trial, sits on the sidelines of a herding trial watching quietly, and turns into Drivey Puppy as soon as you start to interact with him. Then goes back to quiet waiting as soon as you stop.

He sounds like a champion in the making!

What a gorgeous sounding pup, BB! Getting to experience those things at so young of an age makes a world of difference.

I LOVE Nigel (always been a favorite name of mine!) and I have to vote Stewart as well because how fun would it to scream "STEWAAAAAARRRTT!" at your dog a la Mad TV, LOL.

Oh, I'm always looking! Honestly, it has been a bit of a rough summer with Meg training wise. She seems to be getting weirder as she gets older (don't we all?). I've had to pull her out of the agility class I've been in for nearly five years because she suddenly, after running past them with no issue in previous classes, is convinced the dehumidifiers are going to kill her. I'd started trying to desensitize her to them, but she clearly was beginning to transfer her stress about them to the agility equipment, so I just don't bring her in the room now. She's having a great, fast, confident time at the trial this weekend, so I think it is the right answer - but I miss hanging with all my dog buddies! Plus, Meg is seven now, so by the time he's trained, she'll certainly be looking retirement in the face if not before.

I just saw my friend post this photo on Facebook:


and said "I must have this puppy". As she started extolling his virtues (Sleeps through the night! Swam in the lake at 7 weeks old! Good with all her border collies!), I needed to have him more. The timing works as my mother just retired and can take care of his daytime needs as he grows up, I needed a dog I could work with more during the summer...and how could I not want that face?!

Sounds like a perfect puppy came at the perfect time!
