Do you crate/rotate or otherwise separate dogs? I'm puppy sitting (ok, he's 19 months old now... eek) this week and I can't handle managing three dogs out at one time. That, and Fritz likes to bounce on my dogs which is unacceptable. All three are only out if Fritz is on a leash and I'm actively working with him.

How do people with more than two dogs manage it? Do you ever just put all/some of the dogs away?

Rotating works fine, always has with this situation... but I'm spoiled. He's grown up here almost as much as his own house so he knows the rules and is great in his kennel.

I crate/rotate. I currently only have one crate so I never get a break from dogs.

I hardly ever crate and rotate. There are times when I'll crate Rory in order to let the chis have their own time, but other than that we constantly have 5 dogs out.

All four of mine are loose at the same time. They would scream and bark knowing I've left them with another dog and leaving them behind.

Nah, my trio mingles together at all times. It's not hard for me because they don't play or really move much at all when we're indoors since it's just a small apartment, so there's not much need to crate or rotate.. When I'm dog sitting I do like to x-pen the new guys just until they learn to lie down unless we're going out or something.

It's actually pretty peaceful with them all out... seriously, I sometimes forget that there are 5 dogs here. I'm on the couch right now, Rylie's in my shirt, Tucker is to my right, Emma is to my left, and Chloe is on the top of the couch. Rory is laying on the floor in front of the couch. They hardly ever spread out in the house, but it doesn't feel as crazy as having 5 dogs sounds.

The three dogs at home right now are usually all out together, except at night. Casey is crated Emme is allowed loose and Teagan sleeps with me. When we leave Casey and Emme are crated and Teagan gets the roam of the house. Or she gets put in my room. She's the special little princess and does nothing wrong :)

The only time we do crate is when the dogs come outside and they are all full of snow and mud. We do crate Casey on occasion because he will have episodes when he wants to be an A$$ and will beat on Emme for no reason. In the crate he goes. Oh and he pee's on everything when he is left unattended.

my dogs are separated (two crated, one loose) when i'm not home, but otherwise they're generally all three out together. the only exception to this is when i'm trying to train luce and steve won't leave us alone. then he gets babygated out of the room or crated.

Training mine are crated away... or they push me down and start to maul. For four dogs they really don't take up that much room, we have one couch in the living room that is ours and they just pile on me if we're watching tv or lay on the floor. If they do get bothersome when everyone is home they are usually sent outside where they mope and sit on the porch.

I spent a few nights a week at my dads house equaling 3 dogs. They are all small dogs though and are always 100% loose together. We don't even have crates anywhere, lol.

When we have the "family dogs" over (5 in total).. we never crate and rotate and half the time we don't even realize they are so many

My brother calls them "the herd" lol they all just play, hang out, nap, squabble etc..

When we're home, they're all out. They're called the blob for a reason. They all stay together almost all the time. And they all stay with me (or whoever) all the time. They're very velcro.

Oh heavens yes.... I have groups that get rotated in and out - sometimes one group is outside while another group is loose inside, etc.

Usually we have two groups:
Group 1: Ronin/Kaylee/Ada/Revy
Group 2: Jayne/Alli
... but we also do Ronin/Kaylee/Ada/Revy/Alli and Ronin/Kaylee/Ada/Revy/Jayne but ONLY under close supervision. If Jayne and Alli are together, no other dogs are out with them.

Now Ned... he's all by himself for awhile. I'll try him with Alli in a few days but for now he seems a little different. I need him to trust me a bit more before I throw the Allimonster at him. :)

I only have two, but they're always out together. I would feel bad crating one unless they were trying to kill each other, or if Juno were eating the house I suppose I'd want a break lol. But no, things run smoothly enough.

At times all 3 are together.

At times Pip is separated from the others by a baby gate because he can only tolerate so much puppy foolishness in one day.

At times Squash is separated from the others in a crate because he's still a puppy and sometimes I just have to get some stuff done.

Our 3 are usually out together, they are seperated when we are out but thats not because we think they might have issues between themselves. Quinn is crated because I don't trust her not to destroy something, Mac is in my sisters room because if there is something she can find to eat she will and Buster gets the rest of the house because he's a good boy. Once we get the backyard set up properly they will be there more often when we go out.

Chloe and Violet are usually together, we don't crate and rotate, but we used to with Dixie, Lucy, and Holly. Except we'd put them in different rooms instead of crates. Dixie and Lucy were always together, and Holly was separate. Then for some reason, Dixie and Lucy started fighting to the point of blood, and then we had to separate all of them, and we'd crate and rotate Dixie and Lucy in the same room, and then Holly would stay in her room.

I hated it, and I really hope we don't have to end up doing a crate and rotate deal w/Chloe and Violet. I really, really hope we don't. We're trying very hard to cause them to get along. They LOVE each other, but Violet is super rough with Chloe, and tends to bully her some. We're working on that right now.

Gavroche and Logan are usually out together, and Max and AJ are usually out together. But Logan and MAx can be out together too. Gavroche doesn't get along with Max OR AJ (though he used to get along with Max and I have the pictures to prove it). AJ doesn't get along with Logan or Gavroche, but he is warming up to Logan (and Logan is DYING to play with him). If everyone got along they'd all be out at the same time, but since they don't, it's crate and rotate.

In the past we have had 3+ dogs that have all gotten along and in the case they were always out together. It never was a problem. I can't imagine crating and rotating just because of the number of dogs. When I get a 3rd dog I intend to let them all roam together.

All dogs are always free to do as they please. However my 2 are usually inside the house and Roxy (my dads dog) is usually outside. She doesn't have good house manners as she was rescued from a home where she was an "outside dog". She is inside at the moment though because I am watching her closely. She usually steals food. So I have stashed everything away. In the evenings she sleeps in the garage, in her bed. Bella and Leo sleep where they want, Bella sleeps on my bed mostly or on the passage tiles, Leo sleeps on the passage tiles or on my parents bedroom carpet. There's never been a real fight actually.

They are out together. But if we leave and no one can watch solo, then he is crated. I honestly dont know if Ill ever beable to trust his beagle nose to be unattended. he cant even be put in my room loose, as there is a "cat door" as we call it (a cut out hole in the bottom of the wall, for the cat lol) and solo will force his body through it, he has already made the hole double in size lol.

But when we are home they are always out. they get along like BFF's. If Blaze gets to mad at solo he lets him know, and solo backs off. and normally goes and finds that cat to bother, who then beats him and he goes and sulks some where looking all sad lol he is the lowest member here lmao poor solo
