My OH's 1st language was Welsh...... He speaks it on a daily basis. Very odd.

Welsh is so interesting to listen to but holy crap for ever trying to learn how to actually speak it!

It's just such a weird language. And a distinct shortage of vowels going on.

I still hope to one day be able to learn Welsh dog commands for training my corgis.

That is just so weird! I love languages that have that feel to them, though. Welsh, German, Old English, Latin...pity I can't even get my brain to learn Spanish. ROFL

Sit: eistedd - pronounced - A-STeTH (a very short th - think like V)

Stay: Aros - ar-ros (you have to almost roll the r)

Come (here): tyd yma - Tim-ah (the y in tyd is almost pronounced UH, but not quite)

Roll Over : troy drosodd - troy drosoTH (short th think V again)

that's so cool - I've actually always wondered what welsh sounds like, given its severe vowel deficiency! It sounds sort of german-ish to me.

Hrm....yah, it does. Anyone ever tried the Heimlich on a Welsh speaker to see what pops out? Maybe they're actually speaking German or something. Hell, maybe even English. Hard to tell with all that garbalage going on.

I didn't understand a word of that. lol. Except maybe electrical...

Ahh I love the Welsh language! One of my favorite bands, Super Furry Animals, often sings in Welsh. Their album "Mwng" is entirely in Welsh and it's great! I can't understand what they're saying, but I can get the overall feeling of the songs.
