I was walking home from my walk with Quinn just now and thinking about all the things she's learning atm and wondering what else you guys are teaching.

Quinn is currently learning to heal using Silvia Trkmans method, she's good at working out her position on my leg and can move in a circle, to the side, backwords and forward for one or two steps but I want better focus before I move on.

She's learning a new trick. Its pretty much play dead but the signal is me raising my hand at her. Its funny to look real threatening at her and have her go "YAY!!!" and throw herself on her back all happy. lol

I want to start some agility foundation stuff. Nothing too strenuous, just some fun race-to-reward games this week. Teaching her to go around a pole or through 2 buckets on the ground, I'm reading agility right from the start and getting games out of that. I was also doing some reading on running contacts last night because I don't know what I want to teach. Running sounds like more work but I'd love to have a go at it.

As for Buster, he learned to "spin" last week and now they can all do it. I always promised I would retire him when I got a new dog and stop annoying him, I think he's appreciating only being asked for the odd shaping session now.
So what is everyone else doing atm?

Luna's learning to poke my leg with her nose. :) I let her off leash on our property at night, and though her recalls are really good [now], I usually can't see her when she comes to me. So instead of recalling her, I'm cueing her to poke me in the leg so I'll be able to find her. :D

Jackson's always learning new stuff every day, I try to learn at LEAST one new trick a week and tbh, I'm running out of them! LOL. He recently learned 'cop cop' which is where he is under my legs and his two front paws are on my feet and we walk like that. He's learning to blow bubbles in a large bowl filled with water. He recently learned to pick up things and put them somewhere, i.e. a sock into a basket. Alot of tricks like that.

In February, we're going to take an intermediate obedience class which ends with a CGC, but it's advanced recalls and heeling, etc. We have never worked on an official heel, so I'm excited to learn that. Agility is on hold until it gets warmer, I've decided I can't handle the January weather, so agility classes will probably begin again in March for us, but we are going to keep practicing at home.

I should add that Quinn is now learning some adult behaviours she needs, like to wait with all the other dogs to be fed, that she can't steal cat food and how to wait inside the yard while we move the cars out of the open gate, just things we take for granted with the grown up dogs.

We are always playing around with silly games and tricks but the main thing they are learning atm is a running contact and really solid weave pole entrances for agility.

Also brushing up on formal retrieves and such in prep for Open obe.

Ares is learning to not eat poop.

Morgan is learning that coming inside after pottying is a good thing.

Tyr is learning out of sight stays (incredibly difficult for him) and moving stands.

Nyx? I'm never sure what she's actually learning. I'm teaching off leash heeling and cleaning up her positions at both heel and sit front.

Not much else we can do until it stops being so cold.

If you want any online help, let me know. I'm pretty good at go out training.

Trying to teach Lucy to nail her dog walk contacts again (running) :( We had them perfectly, then we took her to a run through that had a wobbly dog walk and it freaked her out. For the past month, she's been leaping off from just a hair above the yellow.

Unfortunately, since I don't have a dog walk at home it's either pay tons of money for private lessons to just work equipment, or attempt to practice with just a board on cinder blocks...neither of which is terribly appealing!

Also, shaping her to wiggle her ears on command. I need a funny cue to go with it!

Z: working on her running contacts, directionals, and her T-rex impression.

Kes: cleaning up heeling position and adding sharper turns, sit/down/stand out of motion, directionals, baby obstacle discriminations w/ send outs, contacts, schutzhund tracking and bitework

Pax is learning leave it.. ( poop ice pops are not cool)
jack is finally starting to master lay down and stay, I make him stay while I work with puck and then they all get a treat.

Puck is learning everything, His sit is good, he knows now he has to sit and waite for dinner ( and not touch pax's while he waites) Working on basic leash work as he hates its. Added down this week and so far so good. he also grasps waite when we are at the door before we go out but he has about a 10 sec timer.:)

All three are learning to down and stay and take turns getting the toy for mom.

whats the best way to teach heel? I think that will be the first for when puck is better on the leash.

Are they officially, formally called "go-outs" in rally-o or something? Because I've always called that a "send-out".

I don't know what they're "officially, formally" called in various venues. I've heard them called go outs, send outs, send aways. I also use all three of those terms myself.
