This is like his 3rd-4th actual arrest for the stuff..............you'd think he'd be a bit smarter about getting caught by now

Come on man! It's Willie Nelson! Of course he has pot!
This is totally stupid, putting an old man in jail for a bit of weed!

I Mean It This Time, FREE WILLIE!!! | Dlisted
Oh, we were rolling on the floor laughing when we read about that in the paper. What really cracked me up was the line in our paper "When the cops opened the bus door they smelled pot" Well DUH!!

As much as I disagree with the criminalization of weed, it's his own dumb fault. There are ways to get weed in every state, why take the risk of getting caught travelling with it. 6 ounces is quite a bit too. I have no pity for stupidity.

Great, now I have the "I'll never smoke weed with Willie again" lyrics stuck in my head :p

I always heard that his herb was top shelf
I just couldn't wait to find out for myself
Don't knock it till you tried it, well I tried it my friend
I'll never smoke weed with Willie again
I learned a hard lesson in a small Texas town
He fired up a fat boy and he passed him around
The last words I spoke before they tucked me in
I'll never smoke weed with Willie again
I'll never smoke weed with Willie again
My party's all over before it began
You can pour me some old whiskey river my friend
But I'll never smoke weed with Willie again
I hopped on his old bus, the Honeysuckle Rose
The party was Vegas, it was after the show
Alone in the front lounge, just me and him
With one parting puff grime creeper set in
I'll never smoke weed with Willie again
My party's all over before it began
You can pour me some old whiskey river my friend
But I'll never smoke weed with Willie again
Now we're passing the guitar, telling good jokes
I know ones a coming cause I'm smelling smoke
No I do not partake, I just let it pass by
With a smile on my face and a great contact high
I'll never smoke weed with Willie again
My party's all over before it began
You can pour me some old whiskey river my friend
But I'll never smoke weed with Willie again
In the fetal position with drool on my chin
I messed up and smoked weed with Willie again

The War On Drugs triumphs once again . . . . *sigh* We are all safe now, froom the horrors of marijuana and can once again concentrate on keeping nail clippers out of the skyways. RIP, America.

Although it's not my thing, I do think marijuana being illegal is silly. If it WERE legal, it still wouldn't be my thing.

That said, there are loads of laws I think are silly that I have to obey. I think it's ridiculous that I have to poke at 15 mph all day down the street the high school is on, when the children cannot leave during the day (if they do, they are in a car..not walking)..but, I do so anyway. If I want to be all speedy in the area, I'd expect to get a ticket.

If one wants to smoke it, fine, but one shouldn't be surprised if they're fined/arrested/whatever for it.

What I don't understand is how he expected to cross the border with it safely in the first place?

Must've been really good stuff to take that risk...or a case of "I'm a celebrity and above the law" syndrome.

All I can say is I'm glad I live in Canada ;)

:rofl1: Yeah, that's what happened to me, too. I love that song!

Naa, it's more like he's been doing it for so long it's like us traveling with coffee mugs. It's "just Willie's way" (hmm, sounds like a a good title for a new Toby Keith song.

Whether it's his "way" or not, after getting caught the first or second time, would you not think it's maybe time to change your ways? Does he not realize he is only reinforcing the negative image of pot smokers?

I guess I could see the other side of the argument being that he is exposing the ridiculousness of marijuana laws, but since the dominant ideology regarding pot is that it's BAD and makes people stupid, I don't see how he is helping the cause.

I'm pretty confident if you polled door to door of EVERY HOME, I'd be willing to bet most people don't think it's 'bad' or 'makes you stupid' and I'd go even further to say that the majority would be for legalizing it. If some type of control/regulations could be figured out concerning work/jobs.

I do think most of us believe abuse of it makes you stupid though, LOL.......I mean, we ALL know (or knew) at least one person who's always high (what most of us call a pot head) and they are not prime examples of strong mental capabilities, hahaha And I also believe the majority has tried it at least once and didn't suffer permanent brain damage or anything, LOL

I'll admit if it were legal, I'd probably have a big ole fatty rolled up sitting next to me right now :D But the risk is not worth it, so I don't :(

Personally I don't like it and I will kick Katie's @ss if she ever did it. But aside from that...

I have NO sympathy for him. None what so ever. He knows its illegal (rightly or wrongly) and he chose to did it anyways. He's a adult and knew the possible consequences, now he has to deal with them.
