Dana 300 went to the White Coats today.

For the first time in 8 years Dana 300 went to the vet today after a home visit.

Dana 300 was my cat back in '95 and due to a move to an appartment move she suprisingly wound up being my parents cat and my stepdads best buddy. The last time Dana went to the vet it stressed her out so much it stressed my step dad out to the point he never wanted, infact he refused, to take her back.

She had 2 absesed tooth and possibly much more, Ill update when I know more once the results are back.

Thankfully mom called the vet and guilted them into making a home visit because my stepdad wouldnt. Luckily for Dana Im at my pararents house 3 nights a week because I dont think either of them could give Dana her meds, I had to give her the pain meds yesterday and sedate her this morning for the trip to the surgery.

Talking to my stepdad this evening I never would have guessed growwing up that he would have bonded so much with a cat.

Ouch! I hope miss Dana feels better soon.

Im hoping its as simple as an absessed tooth and not more. My stepdad is not an emotional person, but Ild hate to see him lose his buddy. The stepdad has never had to med or pill a cat, he wouldnt even watch me do it.

Sh!t now I feel selfish for coming home to my own dogs and cat and not helping out Dana.

Poor Dana. I hope she feels better quickly. Tooth pulls can make a cat feel a LOT better about eating and keeping themselves in good health.

I hope thats the case. Dana really is my stepdads buddy.

Found out Monday Dana 300 has a tumor in her nasal cavity. Only real treatment is radiation therapy and there isnt a vet in AK that does that. Dana hasnt been eating and I dont think she can smell. Mom and I are the ones giving Dana her meds, Dana may be my stepdads spoiled buddy but he cant seem to give her her meds.

Dana doesnt seem to purr anymore either.

Im torn. Im pissed we are all thinking of ourselves over whats better for Dana. Dana isnt herself, and mom and I know she isnt having a good quality of life. The stepdad knows that we cant send her to Seatle for radiation treatment, and even he wont put her through an operation that would mean amputating part of her head, not sure what thats about as I didnt talk to the vet but Im with him on this. BUt he is going to try a treatment to get her eating again just to get another 30-60 days for her. He doesnt seem to be able to give her her meds, moms and I have been doing that.

I feel guilty about not putting my foot down and insisting my stepdads buddy be PTS, and instead watching her suffer. I feel bad for my mom as she is being just as enabling as I am for Dana's suffering.

My stepdad still seems to hold some hope that Dana can have some sort of quality of life for at least a few more weeks. I can understand it but it seems like its more for him then her.

Dana was mine as a kitten and I couldnt have found a better family for her then my folks but I cant stand to see her not eat, drink or enjoy herself. She just wants to curl up in the litter box and sleep.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I'm hoping your stepdad will realize soon that Dana is not living the life she should be and let her go. It's hard to do this since I've been in this position many times. Smkie once told me that the greatest gift of love we can give our pets is the love of letting them go peacefully. Hugs.

Dana was PTS 10/27/10 at 6:30pm. She has been cremated. She was my step dads buddy for 15 years, she had him wrapped around her paw for all those years

She was a gorgeous cat! It is so sad to have to let them go. Dana is fine now. It is so painful, but I'm sure your stepdad knows it was what had to be done for her.

sounds like she has had a good long life--loved, and taken care of. RIP Dana.

Oh Blue I'm so sorry. Dana was such a beautiful cat. Tell your parents to try to remember the love she gave them and that she will be forever in their hearts. Hugs.

With Erp sitting in my lap tonight, I realized what was missing from Christmas this year. Dana wasnt there playing in the discard wrapping paper and the empty boxes.
