Freya!

I've had her on my mind for adoption since I met her at the ferret rescue back in July, and this weekend, the ferret rescue was at Take the Plunge, and on Sunday they brought her, and, well... she's here with me now. :)

She's a total sweetie. TINY, possibly even smaller than Porom, if not the same size. She's gonna need a custom jacket, she can't fit into any of my harnesses except Porom's custom jacket. She's also deaf, but I already have one deafie so it's no biggie., She's so much like Porom so far in mannerisms and expression.,.. but also very unique. She was making adorable squeaky noises this morning while she slept, and has already discovered what Porom knows: Barrett makes a great pillow! Barrett's gonna have a run for his money with these two little deaf divas. ;)

Pics!

Hai!

She's a blaze, meaning she has a mostly-white face and a white blaze going down her forehead.

I think it's her first time on a harness. She was doing the bouncy harness dance.

As you can see, the harness barely fits her. If she tried she could wriggle out of it quite easily.

A few cute faces.

I'm so happy to have her. :) I wanted to cut it off at three, since it's good in case one passes, and three is still a manageable amount to travel with for frolics, playdates and such.

Hope you like! I'll get better pics soon when it's not rainy and gross outside.

Oh, gosh, she is just adorable! :D I've always wanted a blaze, I think they are gorgeous.

And, I also love the names for your ferts. (Final Fantasy nerd over here.) Although I have to say, I'm not sure it is fair for Freya to be named after a rat lady. :p Although, I guess better her than Quina. ROFL

I've always found female ferrets to have a very ratlike/mouselike face. Slender and whiskery. Porom was almost named Freya, but I decided to go with Palom and Porom since they were my first pair. Now I have one named after FFIV, FFVII and FFIX. :p I also have Yuffie the chinchilla and Bahamut Solaris (Basol) the leopard gecko. :p

Love it! All of the bettas to date are: Draco, Maria, Sin, Gabranth, Cecil, and Yuna. So I'm just as bad as you. :p I also had a foster bottle kitty awhile back whom I named Cloud Strife - my brother's girlfriend adopted him and renamed him Boomer. *sigh* So I am now holding out that name for a male ferret. Then I'll have to get another male and name him Zack Fair, just for contrast. ROFL

And here I thought she was named for the Norse goddess ;)

According to the book The Rites of Odin by Ed Fitch (ISBN 0-87542-224-1), Freya was the sister of Freyr. Especially in early times, she was very all-encompassing in her attributes, and seemed to have inherited many of them from various personifications of the Great Goddess who far preceded the Gods of Valhalla. Freya is famed for her great beauty, and indeed is often known as "The Fair One". In the earlier days she also rewarded good housewives, though in later times Frigga has become more the patron of the home.

Freya is quite independent, being chief of the Valkyries, the demi-goddesses who select the noble and heroic dead and carry them to the Realm of the Gods. Some of the legends say that a quarter or even a half of the dead go to Freya. She is patroness of women who attain wisdom, status, and power, since the Valkyries had been ordinary women, then priestesses, and after being Valkyr became Norns, the Great Goddesses who weave the fates and histories of people and of nations.

Freya is the Daughter of Time, as well as the patron and protectress of the human race. On her breast she wears "the jewel whose power cannot be resisted," Brisingamen.Brising meaning fire, specifically the fire of the enlightened mind and men meaning jewel. In ancient times the winter constellation which we today know as Orion was at that time called "Freya's Gown" by the Norse and Teutons, and the sword belt in Orion was called "Freya's Girdle."

She is as strong, beautiful and wise as any of the "Eldest Ones."
Seems appropriate for such a lovely little predator :D

By the way, Allie, are you SURE your two divas are really deaf -- they ARE divas -- they may be doing the "talk to the paw, peon" :rofl1:
