I wasn't really wanting to discuss Enzos motivation to sit at the door or just stand there and look at me :p

I just wondered if other peoples dogs sometimes acted as thick as molassess
You must be talking about my jack:) He is sweet and loving and thick as a post!
But to be fair he is trying hard but he is half german shepard full ADHD.:) So we feel we have made great strides when he holds a stay for more than 15 seconds..:)
The rest of the time he just looks at us like we have lost our minds!

Ummm yes. I think it is Oakley being rebellious though...

Its funny, cause sometimes I ask him to do something & he just looks at me like "derrrrrrrr"....but if I cross my arms & clear my throat like I mean business...he will do whatever I asked him to do (with a bit of 'tude thrown in)

I don't even have to repeat the command...and this works for basically every command...so its not like my actions have taught him to do something specific...he darn KNOWS what I asked him to do...but chooses not to, haha

I'll tell you. Charlie is very smart and usually obeys. However, when he has it in his mind to do as he pleases, there isn't much you can do. Thankfully, he's a PUG so I can pick him up and make him go where I want.

Sometimes I wonder who's the dog and who's the master!

Dekka for sure knows her cues. Sometimes I think Bounce guesses. Kat LOVES keep throwing behaviours out when she wants something. Silly thing.

I have made a mistake somewhere when I added 'sneeze' to a cue. Abby will sneeze on cue about 80% of the time, but she will also offer sneezes when she is unsure of what I'm wanting. Is this her default behaviour now?

My guess is I have to just try and extinguish the 'unwanted' sneezes by continuing to not reinforce them... and then reinforce the heck out of the cued sneezes.

She has started sneezing when I am asking for eye contact and she 'feels' I have waited too long to reinforce her lol. She likes sneezing.

Edit for spelling

*dog begging at the table/staring at your food*
"No Romeo.. no, not for you!"

... how about if I sit?..
"No."
.. down?..
"No."

lol he just keeps trying, hoping one of these things will get a different response and get him some food

My dogs know their commands, I think. The only one we have trouble with is "heel"... but that's because I suck at teaching a proper heel position. It seems basic enough, but for some reason I just can't seem to accomplish it, lol. Loose-leash walking at my side, sure... formal heeling, not so much.

In general i think yes, Ry knows his commands. He is super good at them if i have great treats (like a bully stick he wants but has to work for). If i tell him to do something in general (like out on a walk) he will lazily take his time. It is my fault for not working on it more. He is a very well mannered dog so i havnt "worked" him for quite awhile. We have never had the thick as a post moments though! He is super quick to pick things up. Like literally took him 1 time to know the sit command as a puppy, and less then 3 to speak.

LOL formal heel and stay are two that Dekka offers. Its so strange as most dogs offer sits and things. It goes to show what I focused on early in her training.

And then Summer offers play dead....
Mu does that too. First she'll stare REALLY hard, then lay down and then fall over on her side and stare really hard some more. Lol. Somewhere along the line we got sit and down confused so half the time I say sit and she downs.....hence why we are going to obedience classes lol.

Auggie thinks "roll over" is the mostest fun trick in the world so he likes to offer me that one. Frantically, too. *facepalm* "Roll over! No? No? HOW 'BOUT NOW?? ROLL OVER! WHEEEE ROLL OVER ROLL OVER ROLL OVER!"

Tyr's default behavior is a spin... yep, I'm still regretting teaching that one.

Nyx doesn't have a default, she figures if you don't like what she offers, she'll go find her own rewards.

Ares has been known to offer multiple behaviors simultaneously ~ it's actually pretty funny watching him shake, sneeze, wave and speak all at the same time.

haha, thats awesome...

Oakley's default is sit...unless he is uber-excited (like there is a ball...or food...it doesn't take much)...the he backs up, bows & barks...and keeps repeating. If I tell him to come, he runs up to me, then immediately backs up & bows. I'm like "dammit, dog, I want you to come to me!!" Obviously thats what I get for teaching him to back up (to get him to stop jumping up on me when he wants something)...

That sounds EXACTLY like Ozzy. Seriously. Exactly like him.

Also, you will all be happy to know Enzo sits at the door on the FIRST command now.

Mia's default is spin and sit. It's quite funny. Spin spin spin spin spin butt on the ground. If that doesn't work then you repeat it. If that doesn't work then scream at your owner that they are incompetent.

Auggie will try a sit too, depending on how wired he is at the moment. He'll do the "I'm sitting! Look! I'm sitting! Is this what you want? No? *gets up, sits again* Hey look I'm sitting! I'm siiiiittiiiiiing!" One time I spent like fifteen minutes with him trying to shape a new behaviour and all he did the entire time was sit and stare at me, stand up, sit back down, scoot his butt back in a sit, stare at me some more... finally I gave up. And then the next time we tried it he was like "OMG OMG wait wait I know this one. ROLL OVER??" *bash head on desk*

Yesterday I was working on crawl with him and he kept rolling over. He tried to roll over once but I was standing next to him, so he rolled over right into my leg and was so surprised, he flopped back over onto his side and lay there like "WTF?!?" He looked very offended.
