My arms ache to hold a smooshy-faced baby again. My Persian Greystone passed away a year ago, leaving behind $1200 in medical bills. Knowing him, he probably did it on purpose :D
It's taken quite a while, but his bill will be paid off completely next month. Which means, of course, that I am free to get another kitty!
I've been cruising Petfinder, but Persians do not pop up very often. I must have a female, but I am totally open to an older girl.
The wait for the perfect persian is killing me. I've been wanting one since Grey died, but it didn't seem right to bring in another animal while I had such a high vet bill from the last one. Now that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, the fever has hit full force.

Isn't it funny how those smooshy faced cats get you totally wrapped around their paw?

Quincy is by far my favorite out of my four cats. His personality is so huge. He also is constantly with me. Always on my lap or meowing on a table so I will pet him.

I will probley be searching for anouther after he passes (which is a long time). They are truely cool cats ;).

I am pretty lucky though. We have a persian only rescue in Ohio. So I know where to go!

we've said we'll only have Persians from now on, we adore ours so much. (not that we don't enjoy our cats with noses, of course)

You might check your local animal control. Some shelters let you put down what kind of animal you'd be interested in and will contact you if one comes in. Falafel was picked up at taken to animal control (along with another persian) and I adopted her when her stray hold was up. I'd happened to see poster the shelter puts out each week, showing what animals they have, and noted that they had two persians, I went in on the day their hold was up. The other cat was adopted by a client who comes in to work, so I see her once in awhile.

Abner was also found as a stray and the woman who found him dropped him off at the clinic I work at when no one claimed him after a month. (she also tried to trim out his mats with scissors and cut him:rolleyes:)

So, they do show up once in awhile. There is a Persian rescue in our state, but they do not adopt out to people with dogs (and sometimes not with kids or other cats either)

I hope to see pictures when the kitty comes, hehe. I love Persians, but I don't think I'd ever own one. :) Unless I found one at the shelter.

I used to dislike Persians, but they've grown on me. I prefer the "baby doll" look, though.
Persian kittens are some of the cutest little creatures. <3 One of the cutest cat breeds when they're little. Now I have to go google some little Persian kittens. :D

I am however biased towards Siamese. ;)

Our neighbor has two rescue persians who were confiscated from a hoarder that kept them locked in cat carriers for months. :( There was something like 30+ cats that were kept like that. They look really great now, it's the first time I've ever been around the breed and I really like them.

Good luck finding yourself a new kitteh! You must post pics when the new addition is located and brought home. :)

And just because it's awesome. This cat totally reminds me of my neighbor's persian, Oliver.

I do have my name in with several rescues, but most of the local ones are too strict on adoption policies and wouldn't give me one even if it showed up
The girl who found me both Argon and Grimm knows that if she finds a persian, she better call me as soon as it is confirmed that it has lady parts!
I, too, prefer the doll faced look. Puss was a blue doll face and he was so perfect. And personality! I keep coming back to Mr. Tinkles in the move "Cats and Dogs". You know, the one that wanted to take over the world? That was Puss in nutshell.
I have seen the persian rescue in Ohio, and I keep looking and thinking "well, maybe I can fly up there and surround myself in persians"
It's just so hard to wait for the perfect persian, even though I know it is already out there, waiting for me to find it.

I see people on craigslist sometimes with persians.
I was gonna say the same thing. I am constantly seeing Persians on our local craigslist.

I don't know why people give them up so often. They are so easy going and just great cats. I guess people just don't know what their in for with all that fur :D

A good friend of mine's parent's have a Perisan cat. She's like 19 or 20 and still plays like a kitten, I love her. She purrs so loud all the time but her face looks so pissed off. It's hilarious. Her name is Ophelia.

I see Persians on petfinder around here a lot.
