Breed needs identified

Hello,
I very recently adopted a beautiful 10 week old puppy from my local animal shelter named Lucy, she was left to fend for herself in death valley, CA. The shelter workers were not certain of her breed but we do know that she has a fair amount of border collie in her. The thing that stumps me the most is her unbelievable ears, cute as they may be i have never seen anything like them. If anybody has a reccomendation for directions for me to look into or just a guess of what else she may have i her i would be more than greatful. Hopefully i can discover what this sweetheart is mixed with.

She reminds me of a Nova Scotia Toller

She could be all border collie. Those ears will do all sorts of things likely as she grows up.

Thats what i thought right off the bat because growing up i had 2 pitbulls with that almost exact color coat. Her head isnt quite as long and skinny as i would expect from a pure BC but shes still a puppy

She could actually be full BC Adorable, whatever she is, though.

It's usually harder to tell with puppies. She could be full BC. . .it's hard to tell. Don't worry about her ears. I've seen puppy ears like that, and they usually either become fully pricked or stand up just enough to be slightly tipped. Both ear types appear in the Border Collie.

I only see BC, but like it has been said, it's harder to tell with puppies. She is absolutely adorable!

She is TOO cute! I only see BC too. How lucky for you to adopt such a precious little girl!

Part Australian Shepherd maybe?

She doesn't look full Border Collie to me, honstely. Her body looks border collie (but that could change as she gets older) but her head...just looks a little different. Almost bully-ish.

She's a cutie though. But you really won't be able to tell till she is fully matured.

Could be an English Shepherd. It's hard to tell, because malnutrition affects the ears and tail first - if she were fed properly from the start, she might have more in the ear department. Cute little pup though!

I don't see a lick of any of the 'pit bull' breeds in that puppy.

It's hard because at that age, puppies tend to share some characteristics all across the board.

Whatever she is, she is a cutie. Just wait until she's a bit older and then take some more pics and we'll try again.

I don't understand where people are seeing pit bull in this dog...her head shape is far from pit bull looking....

Neither do I.
I see a lot of BC and/or another herding breed, but we'll be able to better guess when she's grown more.

But it does explain how soooo many dogs are called 'Pit Bulls' when they aren't!
