So, I'm training for a marathon, to be accomplished this June.
After our kickoff event Jan. 30th I went to one of the suggested stores and got properly fitted for shoes. They recorded how I walked, and measured my feet and did all that hoopla. I got my new shoes and arch insert supports. I started wearing the shoes right away. They worked great. Love them.
Fast forward 5ish weeks. At our 6 mile training, I got really severe pain in my right foot and was overcompensating on my left foot and I got blisters. They told me to take out my inserts (because of the pain in my foot) and to try walking without them. Well, I wasn't getting any pain in my right foot, but every walk I now get blisters.
We had our 9 miles walk this morning and my coach made me turn back early because half a hour into the walk I had to stop and dress a new blister. So I ended up only walking 7 miles. Boo.
So far I have tried: blistershield powder, 2nd skin, glide, new/different socks. I do not wear any cotton whatsoever, so worries there. Coach is kinda baffled. He told me that he wants me to put vaseline on my feet and two pair of socks. I am HOPING that this works. BUT, I'm curious if any of you athletes out there have any suggestions.
I do have a couple other options: put my inserts back in and see if the blisters go away. Try new shoes (I have a couple weeks on my "warranty" even though they are the most comfortable shoes ever).
TIA.
