Are Nylabones bad for dogs teeth. Teags chews on them and loves them, but everyones keeps telling me that they are bad for her teeth ect... But these are also not dog savy people, so I wanted to ask the dog savy people.

Are Nylabones bad for dogs teeth?

Ha ha that is what I though! I pretty much keep my mouth shut when they were talking about it. My inlaws said that if you knock the nylabone against you knee and it hurts then its too hard. I just rolled my eyes when they were not looking and let teags keep on chewing her bone LOL

Your knee is hundreds of times softer than a dog's teeth and jaws. My dogs, even the Chihuahuas, even the Chihuahua with 5 teeth missing destroy Nyla bones. I have to really watch that a chunk doesn't break clear off and get swallowed.

One time Jack got a really soft part on it and chewed it off and it got stuck in her throat. We took her to the vets but it eventually went down. Now I get those hard bone marrow chews. I was terrified. So personally, I would not use them. They get really soft and the dogs swallow them.

Yes, these things can happen. Toker bit off a teensy chunk of a Nyla bone and I didn't notice. She didn't really throw up, but gagged it up and out it came. I saw a little piece about the size of half a dime mixed in with some liquidy stuff and I felt it and knew. It is a concern that they could swallow a chunk and it could get stuck somewhere along the alimentary canal. But that's true with just about anything. All we can do is supervise the best we can. Usually, if they swallow something very small, it will pass through or they'll throw it up. But not necessarily, I guess, depending on just how small. Glad Jack was okay.
