They're closely related (from what I can tell) to Beezers and Pharaohs but they're small dogs, only in the 20 lb range. I was wondering if temperament was more like a beezer or a pharaoh...

I didn't really have anything constructive to add, lol. And now that you mention it, they do look like Pharoahs as well

Haha, yeah they're pretty rare, but I believe are actually FSS accepted by the AKC. SO they must exist over here. I love their look and size. I've thought they were stunning for years now.

Mini Pharaohs! How cool. I'm no help either but how did you even find this breed?
I dunno. I've known about them at least 5-6 years now. I'm not sure where I heard of them but they intrigue me. They're also called the Sicilian hound.

Yeah they are AKC FSS:

American Kennel Club - List of FSS Breeds

Another intriguing breed to me is the Podenco Andaluz:

Podenco Andaluz

Anyone heard of that one? lol

And of course the portuguese podengo:

I don't know much beyond looks and them being in the same 'family' so to speak.

They're very pretty dogs! I watched a TV show featuring this breed a couple of years ago... unfortunately I can't remember anything specific about them, aside from the fact that I thought they were really interesting. I do remember them being compared to Pharaoh Hounds a lot though... mostly about their different origins though I think, not temperament. Sorry I don't have anything constructive to add!

Let me know if you find out more info on them. I'm interested.

Wow!! That doesn't look like that small of a dog!!
Well, weight wise.. Just like Ibizan Hounds are 24-29 inches but still weigh 45-60 pounds. I think Cirneco's are around 16-20 inches.

Laurelin, I think we're basically soul mates when it comes to breed choices. :lol-sign:

I've looked at the Cirneco and the Pondenco Andaluz. The rarity of them just puts me off, but the size is perfect for the Cirneco. From the limited people who actually know about them, I have heard them be compared to the Pharoah in looks and temperment.

Podenco Andaluz
Has a nice little Podenco Andaluz .. and She has definitely made me much more interested in them.

Haha, I've thought the same thing. You do have fine taste in dogs. ;)

Back at you. I think the main difference is that I prefer Poms over Paps :p

Lol Me too. I've always admired her dogs, and love all the info on her website.. still haven't managed to send her a email.
