Why is it every time I look at petfinder the dogs I look at are from breeders posting themselves on petfinder or the horses are $20,000:confused:

Adopt a Silky Terrier: only girl: Petfinder

"These pups are going to be our fundraisers in 2010. Born November 21st, 2009. She will be avail to go to her new home around March, after she is altered. Last year at this time we had 5 beautiful puppies from the same Silky Terrier Mom. These are just as cute. First step will be to fill out an adoptiong application. Fundraising adoption fee will be $600. Non-refundable deposit to hold puppy. "

Adopt a Papillon: Larry/ Trouble/ No: Petfinder
Adopt a Silky Terrier: Boy 3: Petfinder

So are they a rescue or are they breeding these to raise money? I am lost.

I could be wrong, but it looks like a rescue got in cute little dogs and decided to "sell" them for a lot to make money and call it a fundraiser.

Maybe the dog's owner let her get pregnant then gave the litter to rescue, and when she got pregnant again, they gave HER to rescue. ??? Otherwise, I'm VERY confused right now ....

There are people who breed dogs and then post them as rescues, charging an adoption fee. I seriously doubt this is a bone fide rescue.

I'm wondering if a breeder "donates" the dog to the rescue for fundraising purposes?

Can you report listings to PF? Whether it's a breeder selling his or her dogs, or a rescue trying to raise money, it's inappropriately listed on Petfinder.
