One of you needs to go get this boy:
Adopt a Labrador Retriever: Fudge: Petfinder

He looks very much like Jack and he's breaking my heart. I keep thinking about him. DH will be pissed, Sally *might* accept him but likely will be less than pleased. To make things worse there is an ASPCA commercial on now....

I'm thinking of going and visiting him tomorrow but I'm afraid I'll bring him home....

:(

Did you see him on petfinder or at the actual shelter?

Just sit down with Orson and tell him to get over himself--lol....
There is no way I have the heart to see him at the shelter!
I would be filling out the papers before I even realized what was going on :lol-sign:

And Orson? Get over himself? Oh you obviously don't understand the inner workings of a Metro-Sexual Diva! :rofl1: Neveh gonna happen sista *snaps in Z formation*

Holy crap!

When DH got home and saw the pic he said that if he is still there one Tuesday we can go see him. I have to think now--I was not planning on a third dog for a while....

The biggest issue is whether Sally will be cool with him. He is a male, which is in his favor. We will have to introduce them in neutral area, etc. The cats won't be thrilled, but that's standard for them....

I can't believe I'm even considering this--I must be insane......

WOW!!!!! *crosses fingers for you AND Fudge!*

EXCITING!!!! :D

A neutral area should be no problem at all since the off lead area is right out front :)

The off-leash area is what I was thinking. There are two things that might not go our way though--we have not gotten our dogs licensed with the city in a while (the town hall hours are sucky if you work during the day), and our cats are indoor only and I don't vaccinate them.

We are seeing Sally's trainer on Sunday and is she thinks it's a completely horrible and terrible idea we will reconsider.

On the plus side, we will get great references from the vet--all we have to do is call and say we are Jack's owners and they know who we are...:rofl1:

Well IMO they most likely won't even CHECK to see if the dogs are registered with the town. ;)

I paid the county off lead parks fee (it incorporates all....bluhm, creek ridge, and the area out front of the shelter) a year or two ago so I could run the dogs there. The one at the shelter is rarely in use because it's pretty bare, so Orson had the place to himself all the time, LOL. They didn't bat an eye, didn't check if the dogs were registered to the town (and they never are) and to top it off........most people who attend the off lead parks haven't and DON'T pay the yearly fee to be there anyway. Nobody checks, I'm sure if there were a problem (altercation or complaint) the issue would come up though.

The cats, I don't know how that meeting will go........but I'm pretty sure you'll be fine as far as the dogs go :) I filled out an app there a few years back on a dober girl, I don't recall them asking about town registration. Didn't get her (obviously) as I was third in line or so, LOL

Well, there is good news and bad news for Fudge---

The good news is that he will be adopted. The bad news is that it is not going to be by me. DH called the shelter and they said that his adopters were coming tonight to get him. We went to look at him anyway. The woman described him as "a lot of dog" physically (he is strong and pulls on the leash). He does well with other dogs but has TONS of energy, the attention span of a gnat, and pretty much no training--he is AWESOME. I love him! He looks like he would be a blast to work with!

I filled out an application for them to put on file juuuuust in case the adopters brought him back. The guy who came in to adopt him looked outdoorsy though, which is good. I hope he goes somewhere where he is happy, can run, has tons of acreage and a billion tennis balls!!

God speed Fudge--good luck in your new home!!!!

There was a lovely little black kitty that was ubber affectionate, but DH said not more cats. There were actually 3 other labs there--a yellow, a black, and a chocolate, but they were all female, which will not work unfortunately......

Well I am glad to hear Fudge has been sprung! Let's just hope he's in the right hands/home :)

LOL to the little black Kitteh..........THAT is exactly why I couldn't do hands on work at shelters, and don't make frequent visits either. I see, I <3, I bring home....... This house is already zoo enough and Kevin would end up throttling me! hahahahaha
