My dog Max woke up this morning and is having a hard time walking he was fine last night, his stool is fine, he still wants food. Hes half german sheppard half beagle. Hes 9 years old and is very happy and active. When we try to touch his bum around his tail and hips he squeaks and crys. He will walk two steps then he sits. He also cant seem to lay down comfortably he prefers to sit. We are very worried and will be taking him to a doctor tomorrow morning what should we do for the time being to ease this pain, and what could it possibly be?? Please help me!

Oh that is very worrisome. I hope it's not something serious like hip dysplasia. Could he have strained something while playing or running? And had a delayed reaction? I do hope he'll be okay. Let us know after you see the vet, what he thinks. In the meantime, all I can think of is to keep him quiet, lying down as much as possible. Don't give him any human anti-inflamatories. Some can really do a number on a dog's liver or kidneys. Just hang in there till tomorrow. Good luck.

I am unable to get him in earlier Yoko its late and Sunday, I am very worried I hope its nothing too serious, I know german sheppards tend to have back leg issues but hes mixed I thought maybe it wont affect him. This happend once before but he only did this for half a day and stopped we thought it was constipation.

Hope you find out the reason today. Hope whatever it is will be minor and quickly fixable.

Umm the dog is 9 and not growing. I doubt what ever the cause was deformation of the limbs due to extreme lack of vitamin intake.
