These people know their dogs, I have bred a World sieger champion
Grand daughter,a Pure west German Shepherd Female To The son of an
international ukc champion Argentina dogo With the hope of creating a perfect
personal survival dog. Listen before you condemn :both breeds actually
compliment each other in many ways the gsd and dogo are both loving and
protective family dogs they should pass this trait to their offspring ,but
even though a shepherd is a good watch dog it is no match to bully breeds
or an aggressive intruder I have overpowered many gsd during personal protection training,BUT neither man nor beast can withstand the tenacity of a
protective Dogo. Both dogs have exellent noses and can be used to track
a man or for hunting in a survival situation this should be passed on ,the Dogo
is much easier to train than most mastiff breeds because it is a combo of many other breeds and the GSD will only help increase its intelligence The dogo
should increase the endurance of the pups ,and the GSD should help with more cold and heat tolerance My goal is to increase the strength and endurance of shepherd and the intelligence and loyalty of the Dogo
with the ability to protect me and hunt for me all in one NEW HyBRID of
a Dog THE SHEPOGO DOG

This breed is unlikely to find favor here. I don't know of anyone on this forum that has any patience with the breeding of "designer" mutts like you are proposing. And this sounds like a potentially dangerous designer mutt at that.

How is it the combination of many breeds if there's only shepherd and dogo in it?

Personally it doesn't sound like a mix that I think is wise.

Dogos are a breed from many other breeds they are the best big game dogs
in the world they come from Irish Wolfhounds,Mastiff ,pointer,Great pyrenese,
boxer ,great dane and7 other breeds READ about them they are amazing dogs with a purpose,not like chasing a stick or laying in your lap so you can pet them
or having someone say (HOW CUTE) learn about other breeds.many were actually bred for a purpose

Yeah, we have plenty of members who have working breeds and the dogs are doing what they were bred to do. You're kind of preaching to the choir on that front.

What sort of health testing are you doing? What are your long term goals as far as temperament and looks? Do you intend to register them with an existing legitimate registry such as the FCI or ADBA? How are you going to prove your dogs so that you can establish a standard?

Whoops, I don't have a working dog so therefore I can't have an opinion. :rolleyes:

I'm going to go play with my cute dogs now.

I'm still waiting for answers...those are questions anyone who is serious about creating a new breed should have already asked themselves, so they have a very clear, fixed picture in their mind as to what they're after.

i kind of like that the name sounds like a shepard on a pogo stick...thats one way to heard sheep, i cant see it being effective though.

they're just another dog some good some bad, & i know i've hunted w/ more dogos than you.

How do you know the pups will have only the good traits of each breed? What if the pups get the traits you don't want from each breed? Like you get a dog that you can manhandle in protection, and it's not real smart like the GSD and not real trainable but it's got off the hook prey drive like the GSD? Say you have a litter of 6 and only 1 has what you are looking for, what happens to the rest of the pups? Do you cull? How will you know the pup has what you are looking for, since a lot or GSD's and I'm assuming Dogos are late to mature? Will you wait 3 years to see if the pups really have what you are trying to get out of this mix? How will you replicate the traits you want from litter to litter?

OK - so you've got the grand daughter of a proven dog. Some holes in the gene pool there. And the sire is the son of a showdog! Who's to say there's any working ability there? I have International and UKC champions too ... there was no working test for that title. We had to go elsewhere to prove that ...

Just consider ... it will be a shame if you don't perfect the breed before the end of the world. It's 2012, right? Better get movin' ...

And to follow DanL's post ... What happens if you do get the opposite traits in the whole litter ... everything you dislike about both breeds? Then what?
