To make an excruciatingly long story short, before Millie was born there were some problems with her mom, and at 10 years old I asked if there was even a tiny little millimeter's chance that the puppies would be okay. They were and for several reasons we picked Millie and named her that in honor of my prayer of a millimeter's chance.
I don't usually like really common names but I had for some reason thought the name Lucy was adorable. It was already on my "possible names" list before she came home. The day before we went and got her there there was a terrible case of a sweet little GSD puppy who was the victim of horrendous, unspeakable abuse, and died as a result of it. The rescuers named her Lucy before she died. The puppy touched my heart and sealed the deal; Lucy is also named in tribute to that puppy.

The Chipmunks

My significant other was convinced I'd run after the dog screaming A L V I N ! like the guy in the Chipmunks Xmas song (and I do). So the first dog is Alvin. The second pup is Simon (pronounced Si MON). There is no Theodore and right now, with 2 puppies, I don't see a Theodore in the future either.

My dogs were all named before I got them, except Autumn... and we bought her at Autumn Oaks, plus she is the color of fall leaves. We are terribly original.

The name of our first dog was candy. I don't know but I just find it very sweet and actually, the dog is so cute. I thought of a cotton candy. It's sweet, so cute to look at and something that I just love. I decided to name it Candy. Well, that's the story behind my dog's name.

With Molly, we got a list of names from hubby's niece that she had written when deciding what to name her dog. I went through, picked the ones that I liked, and let Hubby have the final say, and he liked the name Molly :)

Hailey was already named when we got her from the shelter.

With Sally I just liked the nae but thought it was too old fashioned to ever name a kid. When we got Jack, he was *supposed* to be called "Cole" but I didn't end up picking a black lab. The breeder wanted to be able to call him by his name for the week until we picked up and I'm a "Nightmare Before Christmas" fan, so the name "Jack" just kind of fit with "Sally."

I got Murphy from the shelter where they named him Sarge (ugh). He didn't respond to anything really and I'm a big fan of Celtic names (also I was really into Flogging Molly at the time - an Irish punk band) and Murphy just fit.

Mu was kind of accidentally named. She was originally supposed to be named Pants since I call Murphy Murphypants anyway but it didn't fit. Then I thought "Hmmm. Cow dog...cows moo...Mu!!" Not realizing at the time that Mu is a greek letter as well. Oh well. It fits. :p

Jackson came from Johnny Cash's song "Jackson." We had just seen the Walk the Line movie a few days before getting him on TV and it stuck! He just looked like a Jackson!

We have used Dukes of Hazard names also. We had a dog named Roscoe (Shar-pei mix) so when we got our Chihuahua we decided to name her Daisy. Tanner's original name was Clayton but my husband suggested his current name because he was tan colored. Kota was originally Dakota, but his name was shortened by my daughter and it stuck. We had a dog named Dutch because we had gotten her from an Amish family.

I have no idea why Lynn's name is Lynn. I just liked it!

Ruckus was named Ruckus because I thought it was cool and tuff sounding. but he is actually named after uncle Ruckus from the Boondocks. We were going to name Lynn Jasmine from the boondocks, but it just didnt stick.

We didn't actually choose our dog's name- he came with it. We bought him from a woman who breeds dogs continuously, and she goes through the alphabet every time one of her dogs gives birth. My dog happened to be born on the 'O', so his name (oskar) as well as all of his siblings names begin with 'O'!

Gavroche's full name is Gavroche de la Rue. He was a stray that someone brought in to the clinic. I was (am) hopelessly addicted to the musical Les Mis, and Gavroche is the street urchin from that. Gavroche de la Rue literally translated means Gavroche from the Street. I luff him, he's my <3 dog ^.^

When we first went looking for 'the perfect puppy' my daughter went searching out names....we told her she could name the pup we get. A friend has a gorgeous Golden Retriever named Riley....my daughter loved it (and the dog:)) So Riley he is:)
