I can barely Contain my excitment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My dad and I just inquired to a GSD breeder an hour away from us whom I have been in contact with before!

We inquired for a 5 year old Named Jake! He looks like a lovely boy! We dont know much yet. Basically just sent a msg saying we were interested. Asked if he was still available and if he would be okay in a pet home ! My dad is in it with me this time, My mom said no, but she had a grin on her face afterwards and my dad seems really interested! I am really trying not to get my hopes up as its still early but I had to put it out there... Hopefully My spirits wont get crushed YET AGAIN:rolleyes: We still have alot to talk about but its definatly a possibility.. Also, If all goes as planned, I got the go ahead from mom to drive there on sunday to meet the breeder and his dogs + Jake.

Hip testing, schutzhund club... looks pretty good. :) Be sure to ask lots of questions when you go meet him! Jake looks very handsome. Best of luck!

Since he is already 5... I would just make sure he is good with small animals, since he wont have the luxury of growing up with Keely you want to make sure he is going to be okay with her.

Just seconding the making sure he's been exposed to small dogs before. "Good with Dogs" doesn't always mean good with small dogs. Just an important thing to ask, due to the size difference;)

Thanks!! And yes, Definatly going to make sure he's good with small dogs.. And keely would always meet any new addition before bringing one home anyways.

If I get this guy Im going to ask about doing shutzhund with him if he has the drive :) Just for fun :p

Okay.. I got a reply .. He said "Yes I want him to go to a pet home. Where are you from and what are your intentions for Jake" What does he mean? My intentions are for him to be a pet what else is there? I thought I made that clear in my first email :S

Maybe Im missing something I dunno.

A pet home probably means to him that he wont be shown.

But he probably wants to make sure he will be active and not just chill out in your backyard... so do you plan to do any kind of activity with him? Thats probably what he means.

If hes going to be a house dog, use him for SCH., agility, anything you would want to do with him.
exactly.

Some people inquire about pet homes and plan to do agility or something with the dog even though it will in no way be bred. The breeders like to know this because 1) the dog may not have the drive for you if you are really dead set in doing a specific sport and 2) they always like homes where the person is going to be doing something with the dog.

:yikes: His rehoming fee is only 200 dollars!! Wow.. That is very very low!
thats the great thing about older breeder rehomes :) Romeo was around the same price.. just enough for his health cert. and shots he needed in order to be shipped or in your case, probably to pay for his neuter or something

Usually the range ive seen is from $200-500 for adults pet rehomes from a breeder
