I just wanted to show off pictures of my kitten. We got him at 9 weeks old and he's almost 5 months now and weighing in at over 7 pounds. He's such a great kitten and even though he's hitting his "I'm a big independent cat" stage he still really likes to be around people

It's been fun because he's been on at least half whole prey (mostly mice) since we got him and the other part of the time he's getting nature's variety raw and some canned food. He does have dry available all the time since he's a growing boy but he much prefers his mice.

....actually that's all he would like to eat thank you very much and will turn up his nose at anything less if he thinks he can get away with it

His name his Hamish and here he is at 9-10 weeks old

Here he is at 4ish months old

Annoying our 20 something year old cat named Clarence

He's so cute, he almost makes me want a cat!

Your old cat looks amazing for 20!! Why is it cats live so much longer than dogs? :(

Thanks guys! I do think he's a cutie...at least in my unbiased opinion. He's turning into a handsome boy and luckily he's intact so we can allow him to grow for as long as he doesn't decide to start spraying.

He does look like he could be Jades little brother! She's a very striking cat by the way.

I'm looking forward to seeing what his coat does. He's growing a ton of guard hair's on his legs, chest and tail so we're waiting to see how long his fur gets.

Zoom-We're not sure how old he is because he just walked in our house one day. When we went to the vet he said he was around 6-8 years old and we've had him for about 13 years so it's an estimate. But he's held up really well.

He's starting to go downhill, lost weight and is getting that boney look to him, but having a kitten has really revived him and he's got his 2nd wind. Hamish just adores the ground he walks on and Clarence seems to like him, even if he wants us to think differently.

I really do wish though that our dogs lived as long as cats. And I really wish that cats could live out their full potential, because I really think that most don't even get close to it.

Thanks! He sure thinks it's working for him.

If anyone is every interested, American Rodent has some great prices, healthy and err fresh mice and free shipping for what seems like a little less than half the US for orders over 100 dollars

American Rodent Supply

Rexes are supposed to have such a great personality! I wouldn't mind having one myself. I have to say, not surprised you want one :) Seems like most who have a crested and a cat have either a Rex or Sphynx

:D That's why I had the warning, I know there are people who really are bothered by it and I didn't want people to be looking through pics and be hit with a dead mouse. And no offense taken, I've become immune to being bothered by the feeder but it wasn't always like that.

But I hope his cuteness should cancel that out ;) Can anyone tell I'm enamored with this ball of trouble?

Cute, heck, that cat is GORGEOUS!!

My cats get mice, too. The two 1 year-olds eat them eagerly (well, after they're done tossing 'em around *sigh* why DO cats do that?), but my three 3 year-olds take a lot of coaxing and will only eat them some of the time. Of course, the kittens are happy to finish what the "elders" don't eat, but I sure wish I could get Allen, Rachel and Meghan more enthusiatic about whole prey.

Everyone gets frankenprey the remainder of the time.

Oh, and by the way (hint, hint) more pics would be awesome. I love watching cats change as they go from kittens to adults. :)

Haha! Gotta love the animal forum world, it's a small one :)

AuntieCrazy-They really do love to toss that stuff around. Hamish has been shoved into the cat carrier a few times when he decided to be a little....too enthusiastic about playing with is food.

I just wish he would eat his whole rabbit. I got four and he won't touch them. My next step is taking them to a friends house because they have a meat grinder and then mixing it into his canned to get him used to the taste.

Sorry about your older guys being butts about eating them, but I'm sure the two youngins don't mind :D I was lucky, Hamish was 9 weeks old when he got started on mice and he took right to them.

You gotta post more pics of your guys, the ones on the other thread are not enough :D

Maxy-My dad was none too happy with me when I started. But while he moans and groans about it all the time he will yell at me if Hamish hasn't gotten his mice for the day and gets the biggest kick out of watching him play/eat....even if he won't admit it.

Dead mice do make the most distinctive sound when they hit the floor, don't they? Folks who feed them long enough can even tell how much air the mouse caught from the tone and pitch.

Aw, that's sweet. Gotta love dad's like that. Grumpy on the outside, soft on the inside. :)

P.S. Give me five minutes and check the other thread. :D

Thanks! I'm hoping is coat turns out wonderful. It's REALLY soft now but I don't know if that's just kitten soft or because of the food.

I do know that he had a BAD case of roundworms (yuck, yuck and double yuck) and the vet couldn't stop saying how amazed she was that he had as much muscle ton and growth for having part of his nutrients taken away by the worms.

I say it's because of the mice and he agrees because he wants more

Your cat is really cute! But somehow I feel sad for the mouse he got there. Cats has longer lives because they got 8 lives? Is that right? Your cat is just wonderful.
