Best dog harness?

The collar thread got me thinking about harnesses.

For those of you that use harness - what brand do you use?

I use both collars/harness for my crew and they are in need of some new ones.

Puppia are great harnesses...

Also I like PuppyOne harnesses... they are very similar to the puppia but both the head and body areas are adjustable and they are slightly more padded... they dont come in as many designs though.

I really like the Puppia ones, too I have a "knock-off" since the one I had got chewed up and I haven't replaced it.

I also like Lupine harnesses (like the one on Maddie in my sig pic). They have a guarentee, and are pretty adjustable.

I prefer the step-in harnesses that work like the one shown here from Lupine:

Since my harnesses are used for a ton of different things from just walking to hiking to roller-joring, they have to be pretty rugged.

Z wears a Lupine Roman-style harness currently because of the "even if chewed guarantee" - she's had two since she was a pup lol. I like it and it has worn very well. The straps around the girth are further back than a lot of harnesses and so it doesn't chafe like others we've tried.

Maggie wears an Alpine Outfitters Urban Trail Harness. It's fully padded, the girth strap is set back, and it's custom fitted to her measurements. I spent a few more dollars for D-rings on the sides in addition to the standard one on top, and it still only cost about $30. It looks nice, too, with her signature purple color and her name embroidered on it.

Kes wears a Ruffwear WebMaster harness that used to be Z's SAR harness. I love the 5-point setup and it's been used quite a lot in the last year, yet still looks brand new. It has multiple places to snap a leash and is very well designed for unrestricted movement.

I've looked at the Puppia type harnesses and I just don't think they'll hold up to the rigors of my dogs' activities.

I don't use harnesses as a general rule..don't like them much. Grimm has a vest type harness, just because I think he looks cute in it though

Romeo has the puppia and I have no complaints. Its a cute durable little harness, fits great, looks great..

I use an EasyRider harness for Gavroche because it's a seat belt. That's all I ever use the harness for. I do keep it on him the entire time we're out though. I have another car harness, but it slips a lot and doesn't have the sheepskin lining like the EasyRider does. The EasyRider is also very easy to take on and off.

I do use a step-in harness with the strap between the legs removed on occasion. I use it because it has the two rings on the side (one on each side) so I used it when I was messing around with teaching guidework. I use it now when I can't find his regular harness, as it's better than him riding unsecured in the car (I had an accident once with another dog in the car, and she would have been history had she not been bucked in. I never ride with my dog loose in the car, even though he would stay in his spot). With the step-in harness, I had to add a lot of padding to keep Gavroche's skin from getting irritated by it.

I don't use a harness to walk my dog. If I have a harness on him, I want him to pull, and he knows it. I do eventually want to get him a pulling/driving harness. I'd actually love to teach him to drive ^.^ (drive as in the way a horse drives, not as in the way a person drives )

The boys seem to do better in harnesses but the problem is finding one that fits well because they have such a large chest bone. It's like they all fit to either the left or right side so I think if I did something solid I'd have better luck!

I tried this one on Meg at a recent agility trial, and for the first time ever, loved the way a harness fit her. I'd have bought it on the spot if they had a color I liked in her size; as it is, I think it's going on her Christmas list. Nice and soft without being super bulky, really adjustable and (bonus!) two clips so you don't have to actually lift up the dog's legs to put them in it.

I like the step-in harnesses from Lupine too. It's so much easier to fasten them then the other ones where I almost need a schematic to figure it out. lol

My vet saw Ollie taking me into the office and she recommended the Easy Walk . Works beautifully ! Sure makes a difference with the ring underneath rather than on top .

i like lupine for the go through alot but still look pretty category for medium breeds, there tough, they have an even if chewed guarentee, there cute, and come in a step in and a roman style.

for small/toy breeds i love puppia style as they are a great multi use harness, the wide slightly padded chest makes for a great car harness, and they dont rub under tiny armpits

i have puppia style for vixie and dodger,
then i have a simply nylon roman style for both ruby and jasper thats for walks, and car harnesses for in the car.
once im good for money again i will be buyign them both puppia style though because i find the car harnesses they have no perfect for walking so would like a dual use.

Nothing with plastic buckles or snaps here. I have a good heavy duty one for Gunnar that was made by an Amish guy who does a lot of leather work for horses. He makes custom dog stuff to your specs. I got a great 6' leash made that has a traffic handle built right in down at the bottom of the leash for 12 bucks. The harness was 40 but it's got all brass fittings and has a padded chest plate.

I love the harnesses by Lupine....they have a FANTASTIC guarantee....that they will replace them even if chewed.....Stella chewed completely through her first one....and they replaced it quickly! Excellent customer service...great products!!!

The problem that I always have is the hair sticking out weird or getting tangled (I can't remember which harness it was, but the way it sat over their chests made the hair tangle up bad... ended up giving it away)
