If her dogs are bred at less than 2 years old, how can they be fully health-tested? Sorry, I think a good breeder would be itching to prove themselves, not saying they "don't need to."

But here is some constructive advice: OP, you say you have studied and know the standard and that your dogs fit the standard. If that is the case, forget about getting a show quality dog from someone else and start showing your own dogs. Make connections in the show community and get a mentor. THEN you will find people who are willing to sell you a show quality puppy.

the op said in another thread.. (emphasis mine)

I don't show my dachshunds. My dogs are in my fenced "back yard" (does that make me a back yard breeder?). I just recently finished a small 8 x 12 building that is JUST for them - AC, heat, vinyl wood floors, etc. I only have 8 dogs (all females, 2 are spayed, and 3 are waiting to grow up to see if they fit the standard). So, I don't have a kennel and I prefer to keep small numbers so that my dogs are emotionally sound.

However, I do test my dogs (CERF, patella, PRA) - show dogs are not required to be tested and many show breeders do not test their dogs. I know what the standard is, I've been to many shows, spoken to many show breeders, so I know what a good dog looks like. I am confident in myself to breed conformationally correct dogs and make the best decisions for the lines.

I do not belong to any clubs but I keep myself very informed with many forums, the internet, and my peers.

I feed my dogs RAW, vaccinate them, take them to bi-annual check-ups.

I also give a lifetime health guarantee.

So... am I a bad breeder because I don't show, don't have a kennel, don't belong to clubs, and have back yard that my dogs run and play in? I apologize if I sound narcissistic but, I don't think so!
So if you know lots of breeders why are you looking here? If you are waiting for them to fully mature to see if they meet standard, why not wait till then to breed them? If you believe in health testing where is the proof? And if you are breeding so young with tests done so young (like CERF... I am not all that impressed by a clear CERF on a one year old dog... many things don't show up that early) aren't you worried about your guarantee?

I have to think that a good goal for us would be to see how many prospective breeders we can see develop into sound, ethical, responsible breeders because of the advice and concern shown by our members rather than how many who haven't reached that level we can "out" and then run off.

I agree, but when she comes on knowing enough to get defensive its not exactly a lack of 'education' I agree we all start somewhere, but once you have the knowledge and then choose to ignore it.......

Yep.... She's been "studying" breeds and breeding for how long did she say, 9 or 10 years or something? Yes, she knows better and is choosing to ignore it. That is very right. Maybe she thaught the professional looking website would make people overlook that.

MOD EDIT--find a better way to express your opinions after you've done a bit more learning. Thanks.

How sad is all of this. A breeder had the chance to learn from people with far more proven experience for the better of the dogs and chose to ignore. I never want to be that kind of person. I owe my dogs everything for what they give me and it is my responibility to learn as much as I can to do right by them.

I learn what i need by listening to everyone and taking to consideration what they say. It doens't mean i have to agree with them but if the overall view is overhelmingly different i stand back and reconsider what i am doing. I have found that to be pretty good path to follow for success in my life. Just thought i would toss that out there.

Lameo! Besides, I think admitting to fraud online is not a very good idea! ;)
