What brush to use on a boxer..

Juno's starting to shed quite a bit, so my friend gave me a bristle brush and a pin brush and... they do nothing... except make me feel totally incompetent at brushing dogs. They seem to pick up a couple hairs but they still leave behind a LOT.

Would something like the Zoom Groom be more effective at actually picking up the hairs?

Id try a rubber brush, somthing like this.

or a nice shedding rake.

If you have a feed and livestock store, get a horse rubber curry, and also i use a shedding block...takes the dead hair RIGHT OUT.

the only other thing i would recommend is a stiff bristle body brush (i buy horse ones, they are cheaper)

Also boxers really should only shed twice a year (the big sheds) try some fish oil or olive oil, should help get the coat back into shape

I would imagine that horse grooming tools work great on short-haired dogs like boxers. Use a rubber curry comb to massage all the dead hair to the surface (and Juno gets a massage!), then brush it all away with a bristle brush.

I find the best thing I've ever used on a short coated bread was a rubber hound glove. Rub it in circle patterns first then go with the grain of the coat. Worked wonders on my dobe a while ago. I'd have to sweep up all the loose hairs after wards and pealing the fur off the clove that looks like a weaved rug was always fun. lol

best in my opinion is the Zoom Groom.
but use this outside because hair does not really stick to the brush, so it can be messy

I always used shedding blades on shorthaired dogs. You have to be careful your not too rough though.
Anything rubber will work great, it grips and takes the dead hair with it as it goes over the coat.

So I got a rubber curry brush and that thing is amazing haha. Juno ended up looking almost white with all the fur it pulled from her neck. =P There was a loooot of fur and I could have kept combing to get even more.. so yeah, it definitely works!

Another vote for Zoom Groom. I take Capone outside and actually use two at a time. (he tends to lean into it, he likes it so much.... using the two makes it faster and helps with balance.)

I would absolutely NOT use this indoors, unless you just really like to vaccuum.
