I just wanted to cross-post something Donna from BADRAP posted on another board (pretty sure it's okay since she does say "You can quote this"). It is a sign that the HSUS is finally cooperating.
"i will tell you - and you can quote me on this - we've had nothing but honest cooperation from the hsus since this policy went into effect. There have been numerous busts this year including the big one in MO, and most everyone is finally working together to get some* kind of help for those dogs. We still have a lot of work to do, no doubt. Change is messy, good rescue help is hard to find and there are bound to be rough spots and a certain amount of drama as this new policy is put into practice, but we really can't be mad at the hsus anymore for blocking rescue efforts for bust dogs. Those days are official over."
Also, it sounds like, for the most part, they had plenty of current evidence to convict those guys. I mean, months of infiltration, videotaped matches, etc. There's some mentioned in this article:
The Associated Press: Informants helped agents infiltrate dogfights
The Boudreaux (sp) case was whack because he'd stopped fighting years and years ago, was eventually found innocent, and the innocent dogs were never given a chance. These guys are currently doing it, but at least the dogs are being given a chance.
