Spay/Abort Question....

From my understanding, unlike with humans where conception happens quicky after "the act", with dogs, it is several days before the sperm and egg actually connect. So no, there IS no puppy life in the first few days after the dogs mate. There is sperm and there is eggs; they are just inhabiting the same body for a while.

I am very pro-life, but dogs are not the same as humans. I think a spay would be best in this situation. I would look for a vet who will do it.

I did not know that with the mating. if that is the case than fine. but i still don't agree with the aborting when it is life and they did contact. Oh, and by the way, i don't appreceate the rudeness that some of you have shown to me.

I'm pro life too .....but in my case aborting the pups I felt was the best for the animal world .Too many are PTS ....this is not done in the human world/

it's hard. i think of the little ones that have the possibility of changing someone's life or be the dog that they wanted but now they would never know, that was with my lab mixes (the ones that i never really got to know). I guess i just love life sooooo much that i get depressed seeing or hearing about it. I was born after 4 miscarrages at 2.6 lbs and fought to live. I love everything with an unexplainable ammount of love. lets just say that i save every life that i can because each is so dear to me bc each one is different and each one has its own part in life, there own voice how ever quiet it may be. I just wish to see that done for all others. I hope i am not being mean to anyone in saying that.

The harsh world of dog overpopulation means that in this case, it's going to be in the best interests of the mother dog and the pups to do a spay/abort. Too many counties will kill a dog based it being a "pitbull" or even if it looks "like a pitbull". These pups stand an extremely good chance of getting euthanized before their first birthday just on that reason alone. I'm of the opinion that it's better for these pups to die before they know what pain is, than to be abused or slowly driven mad by life in a shelter, waiting for the needle or gas chamber. I get 15+ emails a day about dogs and puppies just like these whose time is up and there are no more foster homes available.

Yes, look at all the good people on this board. But we are a small fragment of the population with limited resources. None of us on this board could take these puppies.

Freedomwolf, no one here doesn't love puppies. We wish there were homes for every dog in the world. But that's not realistic. It's a sad situation, yes But in the end, this is better, for the dog and for the owner.
