Teeny and Blue are usually "pit bulls" every once in a while Teeny is a Boxer.

I always got the funniest with Wally. Most commonly he was a Whippet or a Great Dane. Once he was a Dalmation (he was brindle . . . so not sure where THAT lady got her information, LOL!). And once a little girl insisted that he was not a dog, he was a Deer. HAHAHAHAHAHA

With the paps it's about a 50/50 chance that you'll be asked about your chihuahua. Even from people walking their chihuahuas. When you explain that they're not chihuahuas then the next step is either 1) 'Wow, they look a lot like chihuahuas' or 2) 'Do they act like chihuahuas?' *proceed into a long story about how nasty chihuahuas are* And usually you have to spell out papillon several times.

They also get called pomeranians a lot. Beau's been called a pekingese, but the weird one that happens relatively frequently is they get called a 'toy collie'. I don't get that one at all. A couple times with Summer it's been a 'toy border collie' and I know that happens a LOT to friends with black and white dogs instead of sables. Mine tend to get just the toy collie. I don't think they look like collies one bit but it happens frequently enough that they must....

Trey gets Lassie dog, little lassie, collie puppy, toy sheltie....

the wowies are pappillions, pomeranians, or any mix thereof...
rosie is a "teacup german shepard puppy"

the cresties...

well ruby is a poodle...or more specifically "a poodle with its hair straighted" or some unknown mix with a "funny haircut"

jasper aparently has "some kind of skin condition"
ive actually had parents tell their kids they cant pet him "because hes sick" or they "might catch comething"
even after explaining hes naturally hairless, ive had people insist that hairless dogs are actually sick or have mange or something...

Pops, I must say that I am very partial to Catahoula Bulldogs. :D Some of the best dang hunting dogs one can find. (of course when bred properly)

Chipper, our Olde English Bulldoge, is always getting compliments along the lines of "Nice pit!" and "Dang! That's a badass pit bull!". Never mind that my APBTs are right there getting comments of "What's that dog mixed with?".

And Jazz, the Fila, was always getting "Beautiful Bloodhound!" comments.

I had someone the other day ask me what mixes my dogs were. I told them, well the black and white ones are purebred ABCA registered Border Collies and the red ones were Australian Shepherds. She looked at me like, "Yeah right lady you know they're mutts."

Another person I worked with insists Azure is an Australian Cattle Dog. Close but um... no.

Course, my mom insists that my dogs are too big to be border collies... they are English Shepherds. Riiight.... American Border Collie Association registered English Shepherds. Does that happen? I don't think so.

The worst was two different occasions where people chewed me out for having a pit bull next to my baby....and they were referring to my brindle borzoi. riiight...

Pit bull isn't what people normally guess with him. Usually they guess:

Unshaved greyhound, because you know they shave them for racing. :rofl1:

Greyhound/border collie mix

Saluki. Somehow everybody that guesses this has never heard of a borzoi. How do you know what a saluki is but not a borzoi!?!

Afghan

Emaciated collie. One time someone thought my friend's sable and tri smooth collies were Strider's babies.

Magical Narnian Llama Creature. That was my favorite.

Kiba - Scottie, Yorkie, those Schnauzery things from Greenland, and a West Highland White Terrier (yes the person said the WHOLE name... she's black) - all those when she was a puppy. Now ppl think she's mixed with something else cuz they don't come in those colors

Stryder - Bouvier (cuz of his shagginess I guess), PWD (shaved his butt like one once), Poodle (when his butt was shaved), also not a pure Schnauzer

Tsuki and Lincoln I just get asked if they are mixes. Because poodles dont come in that color, especially Lincoln. (they are silver/grey and red).

Only Kassie was mistaken for another breed, shih tzu, only when she had a full face. I still didn't see it, though.

Docket is often taken for a mutt . . . or a corgi mix. I state he's a purebred cardigan, and I often get strange looks . . . people don't know the breed . . . or if they do, he looks so different from the show dogs. At that point I usually just smile and say "I said he was purebred . . . I didn't say he was well-bred."

Sarama is continually mistaken for all sorts of purebreds . . . "Nope, she's a mutt" "But she's so pretty!" "I don't think there's a rule saying a dog has to be purebred to be pretty!"

Juno gets pit bull a lot. And since she's still small, she's been called a boston terrier too--thankfully, that seems to be fading out as she gets older. :p

Shippo has been mistaken for a fox, sheltie mix, a PUREBRED sheltie, a "wiener dog," a YORKIE, and today, somebody called him a "Border Collie/Wiener Dog mix" lol.

Eevee gets mistaken for a WOLF for some odd reason.

A guy argued with me that Sal was Boston Terrier :rofl1: Keep in mind that Sal is just short of 70lbs

People ask me all the time if Athena is a Boxer  I don't get that one at all but I bet at least 20 people have asked me that in her lifetime.

My male Chihuahua, Jose`, was thought by one person to be the baby of Bonnie, my chocolate Lab. This was when we were on a walk. He was all coordinated, strong, not overly playful...in other words, not that puppy like. If he would have been a Lab puppy, he would have been just born practically...by the size of him. LOL.

One thing I notice is that little kids seem to recognize my dogs are Chihuahuas better than a lot of adults. Many grown ups ask me what they are. Funny.

Georgia is a Boxer (mixed with Pit?) and she has been called an American Bulldog, Staffy, Boston Terrier, and a Pit Bull! She is most often called a Dalmatian!
Elly is a Black Labrador and she has been called a Whippet, a Greyhound, and a Manchester Terrier! A little girl called her a Panther!
