Cat is Drooling.. help needed...

My sister left me a note this morning that her cat Whiskers is drooling and her bib is all wet. Whiskers will be.. 12? this December.

I tried looking in her mouth and I didnt see any missing teeth or something in there... I really don't know much about cats.

Any ideas?

Anything that would be stressing the kitty out?

My siamese was drooling like crazy and I took him to the vet freaking out. Did a huge expensive work up since my vet was closed that day and nothing showed up. Gave him antibiotics and said bring him back next day for blood work. Took to my vet and he asked whats been going on with him lately. We had been watching my dads cat and she had went home a couple days before. Vet said it was stress and to spoil him a while and he would be fine. And I think all the fussing cleared it up quick. I had been convinced he was dying though.

Hopefully its just something little like that. I know they had worried about an infection in his mouth,salivary gland,poisoning,allergic reaction and a tumor. So I'm basically no help but hope its ok

Sometimes cats just drool. Like some dogs.. There are 2 Barn cats (The FRIENDLIEST cats i have EVER met) That live close by to me. I visit them often and rthey are both older (around 12-13) They started drooling last year. And they are just droolers. They went to the vet to find eveything was fine.They arent stressed by anything. They just developed a drooling habit. As long as they arent drooling Alot, I think its fine.

Her whole bib is wet.... well like wet and now dry.

I was getting their food and water just a few minutes ago. She kept like opening and closing her mouth. Tried watching her eat but she won't with me watching.

So no, I doubt its "just drooling".

My cat did that last year. He had 2 small seizures. I would check with a vet. We did find that too hot of a room doesn't agree with him.

I think a vet trip is in order. Tooth troubles, poisoning and a whole host of problems can cause drooling. In a cat that age I'd suspect teeth, something could have gotten jammed between teeth, one could just be sore and need to come out etc. In any case something would need to be done to help kitty out.

That sounds like a tooth issue, could be something or could be nothing but a visit to the vet would be in order, Can someone look in her mouth? My Missys 15, recently found she lost one of her canines so thats my answer to HER wiping her jaw alot a few weeks ago... Shes fine tho. be watching for your answers..
