Uallis likes to go into the woods to lay in a nearby creek. I have no issue with that...however, Uallis isn't allowed to go into the woods unsupervised because there is an area that he can crossover that meets the township road to my house...too close to the road for my comfort. The problem is that Uallis likes to make a beeline straight for the creek at really inconvenient times, like first thing in the morning when I need to get ready for work...lol

I had a "wonderful" idea and I was sure it was going to work and the dogs would love it. I got them their own wading pool so Uallis would have no need to go to the creek to cool off when he could do it right outside the door to the house!

It didn't work...

Eddie says, "What are you doing, Dad? Is this my new water bowl?"

"Eddie does get thirsty sometimes...but geezz Dad! This is a little overboard!"

Uallis..."I didn't realize there was water in it...I got water up my nose!"

"Okies...I bored now...this grass looks tasty...Uallis will pretend he's a cow instead of swim..."

"What are we going to do now, Moms?"

They have no interest in the wading pool after their initial inspection of it. I thought for sure they would at least get in it with it being so hot today...but no go. They just drink out of it. lol

So now, my next wonderful idea is to turn it into a sandbox...which knowing my luck, they will ignore and instead dig a hole right beside the sandbox...

What a waste of 20 bucks...lol

Oh, here is another shot of Uallis...a full body shot. I took this because it was requested on another forum and I thought I'd share it with all of you as well...

Thanks for looking!

Aww. One thing you can try is patting and playing in the water with your hands to show them that its fun! At FOHA there is a dog I play with all the time named Opie (fila mix) and I had to do that to show him the wading pool was fun because he wouldn't get in it at first. After I showed him though, he jumped right in and went in circles biting the water. :D

I can't remember how many things I bought for Blizzard that he didn't like. Sometimes dogs can be hard to please:D

First, I think the octopus staring at him from the pool is making him think twice!

Oh, I also used to have a big water bowl like that too!

I agree with the others, don't give up on it yet! One of my dogs knew just what to do with the pool, but I had to show the other one and even then she didn't hop in until I had it out a few times :)

Caleb was like that the first summer he had a pool. He'd go in to get a toy if I tossed it in, but that was it. After playing "bobbing for hotdogs" a few times the next summer, he decided the pool is a great place to be. We ended up getting him a bigger pool last summer so he could lay in it without touching the sides (pluss there's room for our grand daughter and him). BTW- your dogs are gorgeous!

That octopus is kind of scary, huh...lol Uallis is a big chicken so maybe that is what's holding him back...lol

What Sweet said ;)

Uallis -- that side shot -- he is lookin' GOOD. I love to see a Mastiff who isn't blubbery!
Thanks! I watch what he eats and make sure he gets enough exercise but doesn't over do it at the same time. Really easy preventive care for so many issues that costs nothing to do...lol

That is next on the agenda to do...the next really warm day, I'll be in it...hopefully that will be enough to lure them in.

Haha, I've never tried out a kiddie pool with dogs before but I'd imagine I'd probably get the same results you did lol. I might have to bust one out this summer... luckily my mom runs a daycare so we already have one on hand!
Cute pics!

Well...its still a no-go. I threw toys in it, food in it and I got in it...nothing. Uallis doesn't even pay attention and Eddie just circles the pool, wanting what is in it but won't get in it.

However, he DID fall in it when he was stretching as far as he could to reach a toy...he stretched a little too far and...SPLASH!!! lol It was funny.

We are going to try getting them in it a few more times and if it still doesn't work the boys will have a sandbox instead. ;)

Both of your babies are very handsome.
How about, you get in it, and then maybe they're realize what they're supposed to do with it.

Sometimes dogs are so darn clueless...

Ohhh man, I remember the first time we bought a kiddie pool for the little kids, Molly and Elly hopped right in and squatted, and pissed in it, right after we had filled it up.
