Abby went to the vet yesterday for her ACL repair surgery, and I picked her up this morning.

Glad surgery went well. I'm surprised the vet let her walk on it. With the suture surgery, I had to use a towel under my dog to lift up her back end to walk. Other than that if she wasn't by my side, she had to be in a crate so she wouldn't jump or stand on the leg too much. It was a long 10 weeks of slow therapy.

They didn't say she couldn't walk, just no running or jumping. For now the plan is to keep her upstairs in the computer room with me with a baby gate blocking her from leaving the room. If we leave this room she's on a leash, and if we have to go downstairs I carry her (getting quite a workout from it!), and I crated her last night when we went to bed. They gave me a thick plastic bag to put over her cast for when she's got to go out and the ground is wet too. She's pretty content to just lay around for now, but she's a little unhappy I've blocked her from getting on to her favorite chairs.

Short of keeping her in a crate 24/7 or having her too doped up to move I don't see any way to keep her off her feet constantly, so I'm just making sure she doesn't strain herself.
