My poor doggie woke up this morning and I noticed his eye was swollen, like he had knocked it or something. Then when he finally opened it, his third eyelid is completely covering his eye :(. The earliest my vet can see him is in 4.5 hours. She said to keep him kenneled until then. He has been trying to rub his eye with his paw and I'm afraid he's going to do more damage. Could this be cherry-eye even with the swelling?

Showing the swelling from above:

My poor baby!!!!!

Aw, poor guy! It doesn't look like your typical cherry eye but I'm not sure. I've never seen that before.

Hope all goes well!!

poor lil fellow :( it doesnt seem like its too bad and its good you can get him to the vet on such short notice. Just keep him calm and dont let him rub or further irritate it before you can get to the vet

I hope its a quick and easy fix at the vet

Thanks everyone. I've been keeping him kenneled and he's been sleeping for the most part. Only two hours left until the vet...I will update as soon as we get back!!

We are back. The vet voted a pink-eye type infection. They put fluorescent dye in his eye and checked for scratches and ulcers on his cornea...none. He didn't think it was cherry-eye. He gave me antibiotic/steroid eye drops and an oral antibiotic. I put the drops in his eye first thing when we got home.

Poor guy. And I forgot to ask for a hood, he's scratching at it now :(
