My flash came!!

Yippee!! Now I can start to play with indoor shots and stuff.

I have one huge question already though--when I take a picture, I'm getting reflective squigglies. How do I get that to stop??

You mean sparkling wiggles? You're talking about sparkling wiggles, right?

Either or. Either way, it's fscking up my shots and that's not making me happy.

I don't use flash too often but if you could post an example, I might be able to tell you what's happening.

I'll post when I dash home to get my cord. I don't have the ability to just pop my memory card right into my laptop. Wish I did, would make things much easier.

Ok, two examples. I need this fixed quickly, I'm supposed to be doing a shoot for the bar tonight and these photos will/might be used on the website as well. It looks like these were taken underwater, which could be a neat effect but not what I need right now!





I have an idea that it might be the bracing between the ceiling tiles and bouncing the flash isn't going to work like I'd hoped but suggestions are welcome!

Ok, ignore this thread. It is the metallic lathing between the ceiling tiles and I have to change how I'd planned to take shots to compensate. Sometimes I really hate needing a flash...

Did it not come with a diffuser? I rarely ever took the diffuser off of mine back when I used a camera. I'd say your lighting in the bar is pretty similar to some of the better lighting situations I had at some of the wrestling venues The diffuser takes care of that kind of reflections really well in my experience.

Nope, no diffuser. English asked me what type of flash I wanted via text one day and ordered it without asking for details.

The shots came out decently anyway, I just got creative with f-stops and flash angles. Will go buy a diffuser soon though.

Try just taping a piece of tissue paper over it and see if that changes things.

Or a coffee filter.

Which flash did you get? Or did I miss where you posted that?


I use my SB400 a lot because my SB600 is heavier and takes more batteries.

I don't use a diffuser with my SB400.
I just flip the flash head up and bounce off the ceiling.
That's what I do with 99% of my photographs.

But if I'm further away from my subject, I might flip the flash head forward a tad.
