It does make sense if you think about it, but you probably do not care. Cropping them makes their ears stick straight up and are directly exposed to all sounds, and having natural ears covers the inner part of their ears which dampens the sound.

What would make you think that I breed boxers? I have a boxer and know someone who does breed them. Do you have a boxer?

There are lots of breeds with erect ears that are neither anxious OR aggressive, as a rule. Papillons, Boston Terriers, Ibizan Hounds, Collies (half prick), Xolos, Tervurens, Corgis, Keeshond... too many to list.

Also, by the same strain, that's like saying that Rottweilers, most sporting breeds, and most hounds can't hear worth diddly. Total farce.

So you're basically saying that better hearing causes anxiety and aggression?

Yeah, it's still making about as much sense when I think about it as Sizzle's terrier comment. Maybe I'm not crazy enough to understand. Or perhaps you need a special brand of "logic" to get it.

No, I don't have a boxer. Boxers aren't really "my" breed. That's not to say if I was wanting to adopt a dog, I wouldn't adopt a boxer if he/she stole my heart.
But as for a dog breed I want to own one day? Boxers aren't really on my list.

To crop or not to crop

Whether or not to crop is a personal decision. Some show Boxers are cropped and some are not. Some pet dogs are cropped and some are not. We have one un-cropped show dog right now who after 1 year and a thousand dollars in handling fees has but one lousy point towards her championship. Her ears don't lay flat and no matter how much we tape them they end up flying away. So....it has a lot to do with the thickness of the ear leather and how long they are. We won't show another uncropped dog until all of the dogs are uncropped and on a level playing field. Personally, I love the alert look of cropped ears, whether it's a Boxer, Great Dane or Doberman. No, it does NOT make the dog more aggressive. That has to do with breeding and ownership.

I had a boxer many moons ago and we cropped his ears ..... why I don't know ! I'll never have another , but if I did , it's ears would be natural .

Thank you. She is stunning and so correct. She is the sweetest dog and I am absolutely in love with her. We are hoping that she is pregnant. She's almost 5 and this will be her first litter. Congrats. I hope the breeding takes. Honey is just gorgeous. My husband and I have fallen in love with boxers, a breed we never thought we'd love so much. Yesterday we took in our neighbor's boxer during a storm because they couldn't make it home during the warnings. We liked him before, but now we love him. Boxers are so full of energy and what great dogs. We do know that one will eventually be part of our family.

All of your boxers are gorgeous!!! I have two and one of them is a 'Rowdy' as well. Can't wait to see Honey's pups.
